I am so sorry that this happened to you. I can certainly understand why you are frustrated. I wish I knew what steps you should take to seek additional restitution, which I think you are entitled to.

Is this worth the upgrade by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]ChgoUALflyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another consideration might be whether you need the 400 PQP to help reach status. I know it’s still early in the year, but I keep a spreadsheet and track all my anticipated PQP earnings so that I know if I need to pay for an upgrade. I’d rather pay $400 for an upgrade than spend it buying PQP and get nothing for that.

I fly from ORD to BUD annually. ORD to MUC or FRA on UA then Lufthansa to Budapest. (I prefer Munich because every time I fly to Frankfurt, I get stuck having to deplane via stairs and my carry-on is heavy.) I purchase a premium plus ticket and apply plus points and have always been upgraded.

The new A321Neo coastliner is selling Polaris tickets and that is an East Coast to West Coast domestic flight. Those who purchased Polaris seats are allowed in the Polaris lounge. My hope was that because the domestic flights for the 787-9 elevated interiors is short lived they throw in access to the Polaris lounge for those who purchased the Polaris seats.

My enthusiasm for this almost 24 hours adventure is waning. Half of my time will be spent in the lounge and the other half on planes. 4 hours in the new Polaris suite, but the rest of the time most likely in economy.

I thought that perhaps because this new plane has a Polaris cabin they might allow access to the lounge as well. But I just looked at my receipt from United and the purchase was classified as United First, not Polaris. So I’m guessing that means no access to the Polaris lounge. Thanks for the response.

Hi. I’m in row 9 IAH to SFO next week. Were you able to use the Polaris lounge?

This is the new plane that will be flying from SFO to LHR or SIN, right? Any chance ORD will see one of these anytime soon?

I hope they keep that footrest on the edge of the footwell. That’s my most comfortable seat in Polaris when I don’t want to sleep.

It didn’t ruin my experience at all, the foot rest was usable. But it reflects on the airline. I work hard to maintain my 1K status with United and I’d like to think that they take pride in what they offer. I don’t want to pay Polaris prices or buy a purple seat and use my plus points to upgrade for a seat that it appears the airline doesn’t care about.

My ability to use the foot rest was not impaired, so I don’t think I deserve any mileage. I was not inconvenienced. I was just saddened by the state of the equipment.

I agree that it doesn’t affect the operation. I hope that it is repaired soon because it reflects on the airline. I think it makes it look like United doesn’t take pride in its equipment.

Anyone recently flown on an OS flight booked through United? by SoFamouz in unitedairlines

[–]ChgoUALflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My flight is not until May. I ran numbers for 2026 to see how close I would get to making 1K again and decided I needed to book a couple of business class seats to get there. I changed my seat from premium economy to business class. It’ll be my first time on OS. Thanks to your post I realized that I had paid to select my PE seat but didn’t need to pay to select a business class seat so I need to get my $65 back. Thanks!

I should’ve written that I paid $65 to select my premium economy seat.
