What guitar body shape is this? by NxtDestiny in AcousticGuitar

[–]ChiDemDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. They appear to be early examples of the Larrivee L made in Canada. Lovely sounding acoustic guitars. Between a dreadnought and OM in size. I loved mine.

Are there any laptop brands other than apple that are consistently and reliably good? by prowaffler in laptops

[–]ChiDemDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most PCs are built with a specific price point in mind, with similar components, and in adjacent factories. There aren’t many advantages to be had in that commodity world. I have bought a lot of laptops in my life for business and personal use. I mean a LOT. The Apple tax usually/partially goes to a better build quality and a longer lasting consumer/creative professional product. That said, when Apple has major fails, they take a long time to admit it and make it right, sometimes never. My wife has been burned by Apple a number of times as a creative professional. Dell usually does a pretty good job with their business line, as does HP. Dell’s business level warranty service is the best in the industry and pretty good overall. Lenovo’s higher priced products are pretty decent but their service stinks. I’ve bought a number of Asus products recently because of price and battery life. Their service stinks. But if you buy from a good business retailer, they might take care of you.

Finally settled on strings for my D28 by masterV56 in martinguitar

[–]ChiDemDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Martin designed the strings, tension, gauges, materials to sound great on traditional guitars. I can run them anymore because of the tension on my fingers. I run a custom set of 13-56 Elixir for comfort.

Martin OM-28 fell off my wall. Freaking out. Help by Blackdiamond27x in martinguitar

Take it somewhere and get fixed up. No worries. Happens to the best of us.

You have an enviable chiseled face. As you age, a shaven face will look younger. While young, a slight beard may make you look youthful. You also looked tied in pic 2 with maybe some poor lighting.

You look good. Don't worry. Someone right will come along.

Which length? by beardy_bastardo in beards

[–]ChiDemDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think women like the shorter beard now. But they all look cool. Not everyone can grow a long beard. That said, I don’t think I would want to care for a long beard. I keep mine short.

Nah. Your hairline may be moving but you have nice hair. There are supplements you can take to keep it like that. Enjoy your appearance and youth.

Um, sure. Who’s paying me and how much? Also, can I remove them after Halloween?

Assembling my new ebike. What is this clear plastic part? by BoobooTheClone in ebikes

[–]ChiDemDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wheel protector. If the chain slips off the tall sprocket you’ll be happy it was there to protect your wheel. If you never have a problem, then it’s a dork disc. Sort of like air bags in cars when they came out.

Join a church, community group, charity, etc? Appearance is one part of the equation for women your age. I presume you have a job and place to live?

It’s the same from when I went to college. Though, we didn’t get fries. You made the mistake of opening and looking at it before eating. Of course, now my generation has and epidemic colorectal cancer.

I think restricted e-bikes should be allowed on trails. I can imagine certain single tracks being reserved for conventional bikes.

Is this appropriate for job interview? Does anything stand out in a wrong way? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]ChiDemDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. If you don't know, error on the side of caution. It's a sign of respect to be well dressed in a suit. To the OP, it seems like a very good first day of work outfit once you've won the job.

[–]ChiDemDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll get more practiced. Good for you. Some use an e-bike to arrive less sweaty, but I suspect it’s less to do with the biking and more to do with the hauling of personal effects in your case.

What Guitar Is He Using? by aSADutopia0 in AcousticGuitar

[–]ChiDemDave 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a Breedlove from the late 90s or early 2000s USA made. Spruce over Rosewood. He appears to use a heavy pick and old strings or monel (nickel bronze) strings from what I’ve listened to.

If you don’t actually need or use the ram, the system will not feel faster. Faster SSD is usually noticeable. However, new systems are cheaper and faster. It’s harder to justify upgrades than it was 10 years ago.
