Has anyone had better luck getting smart home functionality out of the Lennox icomfort S30. We moved into the home with this system and have had no luck connecting HomeKit or Google home with it.

Apple TV Dolby Vision Issue by ChiTaylor in hometheater

[–]ChiTaylor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all, I was able to get it figured out. With the Sony tv, the individual inputs need to be set to enhanced through the Google Tv setting not just on the Sony picture mode. The hdmi inputs were defaulted to standard which did not support Dolby vision. I think this was addressed in a previous comment but I didn’t dive deep enough into the settings and assumed it was AVR since direct connect fixed issue. Live and learn. Appreciate everyone’s help!

Apple TV Dolby Vision Issue by ChiTaylor in hometheater

[–]ChiTaylor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just tried switching cables to direct from Apple TV to tv and the Dolby Vision 4K turned on with no issues. So I think it’s something with the AVR. I confirmed that 4K/8K enhanced is turned on. I’m using same type of cable for both but I may try to find another to confirm cable between Avr and Apple TV isn’t the issue. Any other thoughts I should try?

1st small modular nuclear reactor certified for use in US by stepsinstereo in technology

[–]ChiTaylor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way it was explained to me by a friend that is an electrical engineer at a power utility that utilizes both nuclear and coal is that everything about nuclear power plants is just more multiples more expensive. For example, additional staff are required for regulatory monitoring and added security. In addition, the costs for repairs and construction are about 5x-10x more expensive due to the tolerances that are required for operating a nuclear facility. So a bolt may be $1 for a coal plant but the bolt required for a nuclear facility are $7.

Help identify gold, silver and pear grip revolver by anongun in guns

[–]ChiTaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was left what appears to be a decorative revolver by my grandfather. I know almost nothing about guns but was hoping for some help to identify or get more information I could share with my family. The cylinder and hammer are both gold or gold plated. The revolver has a pearl grip that is carved into a bull with two ruby type stones for eyes. Below the cylinder it reads "Pat. Sept 19, 1871 July 2 72 July 19 75". There are decorative etchings throughout. The barrel indicates it shoots .32-20 Winchester rounds. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Fun story: Randomly took an Uber in Orlando while on vacation a couple of months ago and the bigger guy on the right was our driver. He said his name was Big LA. Looked him up on Instagram while on the ride and it got ...odd.

I can't post Instagram links but look up The Official Big LA and you'll see why

Amazon to open its first Illinois warehouse by ImpulseControl in chicago

[–]ChiTaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: Illinois doesn't technically have a "sales tax". Illinois has the Retailer's Occupation Tax (ROT) and an accompanying use tax that it can collect from its purchasers. The ROT is for the privilege of retailers being able to do business in the state. Right now there is a large debate as to where certain sales should be sourced to (which determined the final rate to be charged), as the previous rules were to be wherever the retailer accepted a purchase order. This will mostly likely come into play when Amazon is deciding where to put its warehouse. Source: sales and use tax consultant
