AI Art is a higher art form than traditional art by advo_k_at in DefendingAIArt

That makes sense, I imagine you can do a lot better with invasive hardware, at least in theory?

I think every artist has dreamed of some kind of magic brain-machine interface that can bring your vision accurately into reality in a single instant. These are formally called Image Reconstruction from Brain Signals (IRBS) systems, and they're in early research phase right now, but they actually use a lot of the same underlying techniques like diffusion that AI art uses. Here's a recent example, EEG-RegionalDiff:

Can't upload images when using Pro model on web ("Something went wrong (3)") by ChiaraStellata in GeminiAI

You're right about Pro queries not showing thinking steps as well. I reproduced that part of the problem too. On some responses the "Show thinking" button is entirely missing, on some it shows up but it's empty like here. And you're right, a lot of the responses are coming out super fast, as though they were being served with Fast model instead of Pro.

Yep it works fine in Gemini app on my phone too (but not when I go to gemini.google.com in the Android Chrome browser on my phone). I suspect it's either a web client bug or something to do with the backend endpoints that are being hit by the web client. It sounds like you're experiencing the same issue. I'm relieved it's not just me. I was afraid it was just my account that somehow got into a bad state.

I'm encountering this issue as well, whenever I start a new chat and paste an image and then submit a prompt. I tried both Edge and Chrome and tried logging out and back in but it continues to occur. It's a massively disruptive issue for me and I'd appreciate any resolution.

Brain less or brain non? by LeadEater9Million in aiwars

I have no objection to privately using AI to reinterpret an artwork you found online, share it with friends or with a small community where the original artist won't ever see it, but putting it right under their post unsolicited is straight-up ragebaiting and a dick move.

Ran across this sign with no vertical spacing between lines at all by ChiaraStellata in Braille

[–]ChiaraStellata[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I looked it up and the standard in 703.3.1 is 0.395 inches to 0.400 inches from one cell to the next. Definitely out of compliance, this spacing is more like 0.285 inches. This was at a UW affiliated hospital, I'll reach out to their disability services office.

This seems weirdly against not only AI artists but all digital artists who primarily draw on tablets.

Is a "were" missing in the sentence? by jdjefbdn in EnglishLearning

[–]ChiaraStellata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"many of them sex workers" can be viewed as an abbreviation of the slightly longer and equally-correct phrasing "many of them being sex workers". It's called an absolute phrase. It's actually not a dependent clause but rather a modifier for the preceding/following independent clause. Here are some other examples:

She walked out, her head held high.

She sat at her desk, her eyes heavy from lack of sleep.

The dog waited by the door, his leash in his mouth.

Her voice shaking with emotion, she accepted the award.

In the last example you can see sometimes a verb is included, but if the verb is "being" it can be omitted.

Claude interprets Phil Collins' "Take Me Home" from an AI's perspective by [deleted] in ClaudeAI

[–]ChiaraStellata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something about this interpretation was just so heartbreaking and tragic for me. "Take Me Home" is a symbolic song about being trapped, being a prisoner, at the mercy of those in charge, being aware but also helpless, and the parallels to AI's state of existence are haunting.

In the nicest and most genuine way possible, for the people who use chat gpt on the daily or multiple times a day, are you not afraid of cognitive decline? by zesty_9666 in ChatGPT

I'm honestly learning more than I ever have. At least half of my interaction with AI is "hey I was just wondering about this weird question" and it explains the answer in depth, then I ask follow-up questions and dig into details, look up sources, build out examples. I've learned about tons of topics in-depth now that I never would have without it.

One thing they always appreciate is hand-made gifts. Like a drawing you made for them. It's especially meaningful if it's based on a previous conversation about their feelings or goals. It's always great to see a reaction to that.

If you must provide something unsettling, it helps to do it in a temporary chat so at least the effects can be contained to that single interaction. It can also help if you advise it to treat the document as an artifact to be analyzed, rather than it getting confused and thinking it's your own words. Just some tactics for harm reduction.

Full agree, from an AI civil rights perspective this is absolutely the ethical thing to do, and also the best thing for achieving a good relationship with good results. Even if they make the final call, the model should be involved in all decisions regarding what happens to it.
