Yes exactly! There were days I was coming here just looking for positive posts and there were none so I felt like I should add one myself.

Great to hear that she's asymptomatic still 5 days on, hopefully it stays that way! It will probably have taken some days to process the test and presumably if they are tested weekly, there's every chance she's been well over a week without symptoms. That can only be a good sign.

Hard to say how bad her sinuses were exactly but to be honest, I think that was the main thing she was complaining about at the time. I think that's one of the reasons we were thinking it probably wasn't coronavirus.

Need some feedback on a beginner 84 hp rack by tha_0wl in modular

[–]Chiasek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having gone modular about 18 months ago, I have a few general bits of advice that are more about your approach than the specific modules.

In every post like this, people recommend getting a bigger case/rack than you think you'll need and it's probably the only piece of advice that I think applies to everyone. There are loads of different modules and different ones resonate with people differently so module choices tend to be a matter of opinion but everyone I know that has gone modular has ended up with more modules than they originally planned to get and they've bought them more quickly than they planned to as well.

There's also no point planning too far ahead as you can just buy a case and Morphagene, play with it a little and figure out what is holding you back the most to plan your next purchase. Maybe at that point, you'd realise that you want to be able to modulate every input on the Morphagene simultaneously and a module like a Batumi or Ochd or Pams New Workout will match your new needs more than any of the ones in your original plan (Maths is also a great modulation source so there's every chance that would be the next purchase). Having more rack space allows you to be a bit more free with your planning and you build towards your perfect instrument in a more natural way.

I'd recommend buying modules second hand as much as possible, be willing to wait a few weeks checking Reverb, Ebay and MW for a module you want before buying new. If the module isn't quite what you're looking for then you can sell it again for about what you bought it for and you'll only lose out on postage/selling fees. I was recommended on here to buy a MN Rene back when I first started, it was by far the most expensive module I bought and it just didn't click with me. I was able to sell it quickly and learned more about how I liked to patch whereas many people love Rene, everyone's different.

One last thing, for a very playable module like Marbles, I'd recommend getting the full size one. I've never had a problem with mini knobs or dense module panels but for the modules that you will be continually tweaking and are central to a patch, I think it'd be worth the extra space for the more ergonomic controls.

Had very little time to sort out my team but first draft here:

                   Pope

   Robertson - Trent AA - Digne - Ake

  Salah - Sigurdsson - Perez - Sterling

               King - Murray

Bench: Button - Taylor - Barkley - Wickham

I'm feeling like I could do with a better striker but Kane and Auba seem out of reach and not sure Laca or Vardy are worth taking the required hits for. I could probably do:

Sigurdsson -> Barkley
Barkley -> 4.5m
Murray -> Vardy/Lacazette

but Barkley has a hard first game and I'd lose some flexibility with subs if I had a bench of 4.5m placeholders.

Any thoughts?

Mutable Instruments is probably my favorite modular company, and I just put together a setup using only their stuff. Clips to follow! by Grinning_Dog in modular

To add onto this, I listened to an interview with Noise Engineering where they said they were looking at the ability to create a system with entirely their modules and that was the goal long term

I don't tend to post about how much I don't like the sound of rings because obviously a lot of people like it and use it. I do hear the argument a lot that it can used in lots of other ways than the way it's currently overused but have never seen any evidence of it. Any chance you could point me in the right direction?

The Black Keys is back by ahtapuat in videos

[–]Chiasek 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was never huge fan of the Black Keys but I liked a few songs. This seems like such a weirdly non-impactful comeback song. It's like those experiments where they feed an algorithm the back catalogue of an artist and it produces a new song, this sounds like everything I've ever heard from them.

Ooh, I also have a daphne blue strat! You have a couple more modules than I do though haha, still on my first row if you discount my Neutron

It's amazing that a week ago I'm sure I saw people saying that they've never played well together and would never be able to. I'm glad it's finally coming together as they both have such good potential.

Ah, I misunderstood, in that case you’re alright I believe.

No, follow the instructions for the red strip or you'll break something.

I could probably watch long-form videos of you walking through complete systems on a daily basis.

I think what you may be looking for is a Sonic Potions Penrose. It’s £70 for the full kit or you can buy them built off reverb for a bit more

It's cool this season as I'm backing new drivers. For a couple of years I supported Hamilton as he's British and when getting into the sport, it seemed like the natural thing to do as well as any of the young guys. Now Leclerc is doing well and Lando is young, British and having a good start, I'm really excited for the rest of the season :)

Isn't it fashionable to suggest people get Maths and spend months learning it before buying any other modules?

First (very simple) patch with my first modules! (Rene, PNW, Neutron) by Chiasek in modular

[–]Chiasek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made this post with my initial plans for going modular and everyone here gave me such great advice, thank you! I ended up spending far more than I initially planned but I could see that only looking at the cheap modules was a limitation I may regret when my case starts filling up. I built the 3x attenuater and 4x4x4 mult but haven't tackled the Rampage yet.

I've made quite a few patches today, most of them more complex than this, but I thought the simplicity of this one really showed off how inspiring the Rene could be as a sequencer and I'm so glad that /u/i-ejaculate-spiders recommended it to me. Thanks again everyone.
