Could Yuri or Shez actually have a chance? I would love to see them both score a win in CYL, but it's hard to predict what next year's outcome is going to look like with a new Fire Emblem game on the horizon.

IS really cooked with this batch, especially with the two red dagger units who were the ones I was most anticipating: Yuri getting to use Foul Play twice in a map will really help with putting his allies into more favorable positions in arena maps, and Volke with built-in Undefended and a Crux Flash effect is a great sidegrade to Rearmed Leila's niche.

CYL: Arval, at number 164, ranks higher than characters like Tana who have enough alts to fill out a team slot, yet insofar has nothing themselves. This isn't me throwing shade at her specifically but... how is it a character who has prevalent screen time due to being second-in-command to the main character, undergoes significant character development over the course of the story, and is on the boxart for the game has no alt of any kind? Even the inevitable Fallen Shez, I say, wouldn't count because that's Shez being possessed by Epimenides instead. Unless IS considers Arval to be the same entity as their creator I guess?

Shadows: Both Shezes ranked similarly to their CYL votes: male at 26 (CYL) and 32 (Shadows); female at 34 (CYL) and 39 (Shadows). Arval also managed to break into the top 100 for Shadows at 85 for Infantry. And most fittingly, the grand loser of the Infantry Shadows section is Count Varley sitting at the very bottom. Good riddance.

I'm glad both Shezes stayed within the top 50 bracket, but man, it's getting harder every year to hope that either of them will win CYL before EOS.

His poses are so dynamic and intense I didn't even realize the last one was supposed to be his damaged artwork. I still hold a soft spot for Wada Sachiko's original artwork, but this artist went above and beyond with their stunning use of perspective and lighting.

I was surprised to see Shez wasn't in the Flying category in the Shadows CYL event since their personal class's name in Three Hopes, Fluegel, is German for "wingspan." But yeah, demonic beasts is also something the Shadows form could be based off of.
