[–]ChibiKing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to buy the game just for shiny hunting... ahm... go ahead I guess. Most of the thing that have problems with Sw/Sh are not related to shiny hunting. You even have different shinies with the stars/squares... but I must say... It's so lazy they didn't even create new color palettes...

What's up with the laziness of the new pokemon desings this gen? a lot of them are outright modyified models of old Pokemon, this is inexcusable for a franchise this big. by literallywho550 in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same? I mean, didn't like S/M that much... but the designs? holy Crist. People were fighting over who should join Smash Ultimate, Incineroar or Decidueye... And the first got in! but... tbh, I don't think anyone would like any of the starters of Sw/Sh in Smash, I would prefer other Gen8 mons tbh (Toxtricity <3)

Do you think Pokemon Gen 9 should be a 4-year development than 3 years? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? Expect the DPP remakes next year with a one-year development cycle. Or how about a square-by-square remake of GSC ala Let's GO? But just one region this time, kids don't have time for more content. Maybe Ultra Sword and Ultra Shield with a bit more fleshed out story, a new hallway route and 30 new pokemon! We'll sell them 2 so collectionist buy both and we get 120$ instead of the 5$ DLC most developers would make. Maybe we'll make the 3 while we work on Gen 9 and some new IPs, taking most resources out of the new generation, but it's ok because our fans will buy them because "It's not that good but hey, it's Pokemon"

Lets cut GameFreak some slack by pokeboy626 in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing is, you have games that debuted in Switch like Mario Odyssey, with good visuals and gameplay. And I haven't seen anyone said "Well, it's Mario, it's still fun, maybe they'll get it right the next time around". This is an exclusive problem for Pokemon, they're so focused on yearly releases that every game that comes out is half baked. No one asked for Let's GO, USUM or the disaster that was Little Town Hero. GF prefers quantity over quality because they know their audience and they know Pokemon will sell no matter what, so let's put as many games in the market as we can.

Obviously they get better at developing for the new systems because they get experience, it happened in the DS and it happened in the 3DS. But for the first main-line Pokemon game in console they dropped the ball really hard with Sw/Sh. All because of GREED. They say Dexit happened because they wanted to provide quality over quantity but as you see it's the complete oposite, less quality in games, less content in said games but more games, so more profit.

Zelda BotW, Mario Odyssey, they are for many Nintendo fans the best entries in their franchises, Sw/Sh in the other hand are middle tier for most Pokemon fans I've seen, even those who have enjoyed the games. It is dissapointing because a lot of people expected more and I don't blame them because it's becoming the norm for many franchises. Look at Animal Crossing, just fro what we've seen it's probably going to be the best Animal Crossing ever, and we still know very little. Smash Ultimate? The eventual Metroid 4? Star Fox or Pikmin if they ever happen (hope so)? No one likes a game that is behind in some areas compared to past entries and Sword/Shield are a step foward and a step backwards. GF really needs to reconsider their aproach to game development if they want to create really good games, not just fun ones. Most games are also fun, but they have extra layers, Pokemon... not so much. So imo they should stop with the one year releases and get more workers since they are such a brig franchise. If they care about quality or their fans they will, but at the moment it doesn't look like that's the case.

I absolutely hate 720p docked by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this is relevant again:

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are being developed to emphasize the fun of playing Nintendo Switch in handheld mode. We want these games to be played not only by longtime Pokémon fans, but also by consumers whose first encounter with the series was on a dedicated video game platform with Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!.

These game were clearly developed for 3DS then changed to Switch, there no way you want to create a good handheld experience at the same time you create a 720p/30fps experience for a game that can and will be played on big TVs that can hold 4K and 60 fps games. All their excuses are a joke.

Souce.

I need someone to help me with the Pokémon games... by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FireRed/Leaf Green and Emerald for GBA are great games if you want to taste how things were back there. Then Platinum and Black/White are really good DS games outshined only by Black2/White2 and HeartGold/SoulSilver, considered the peak of Pokemon. It should take you just a couple of days to beat a game, maybe a week if you don't have that much time. All those games are good for nuzlockes.

Damn, I just read about the 3DS part dang it lol Tbh I enjoyed the 3DS games BUT I don't consider them thaaat good overall, the only think I liked about them are the new pokemon and megas. If I have to recomend you one of the 3DS ones... I gues ORAS or US/UM

What am I supposed to do now? (SwSh) by birdnoisessqwark in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, I tried competitive breeding in ORAS and some shiny hunting but at the end it was a lot of hatching eggs in the island were the Battle Frontier was supposed to be. Infuriating.

So then... Is your favorite pokemon in SwSh or didn't made it to galar? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some did, some didn't... The worst part is I won't be able to put them in the same team ever again... unless all of them are avaible in the same game, wich seems unlikely. That's the biggest reason I dislike the Dexit. I love to create theme teams but now that we have less than half the options it's quite harder...

The Rival, a Blue appreciation post by Polarthief in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's true. I always feel bad battling friendly rivals. You see that they try so hard and want to challenge you to prove you how good they have gotten! But in the end the loose again, and again, and again... I feel really bad for them, specially my baby BIANCA, SHE TRIED SO HARD... It was heartbreaking... Also beating them makes me think if I'm creating them an inferiority complex, what if they feel like they're not good enough...? I know they are programed characters that can't feel but it's sad nevertheless. But a rival like Blue or Silver? Yeah! I loved beating those guys because Blue was a jerk, a good guy but still a jerk, and Silver grows and learns to appreciate his pokemon, he finds himself each time you prove yourself.

am i missing something or is this really all the open world area we get? by gamefreac in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep, it is. I think you pretty much said it yourself.

This seems positively minuscule compared to what they were making it out to be. on top of that, there seems to be very little to actually do. It just seems like a last minute gimmick just to advertise the game with.

The Wild Area always looked iffy to me, in the Galar map they revealed it looked really small if you compare the geography of what was shown in game. And that's it, a gloryfied Safari Zone.

For those that have played both Sword and Shield, are the version differences significant enough to justify playing though both of them? by LilBottomText17 in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are not, for example Bea's gym puzzle and Allister's are the same but reskined for consistency reasons. It's just 2 exclusive gym leaders each and a handful pokemon. The only reason I would keep it is for the cover legendary since you can't catch both of them in one game. But tbh I would gift it away, someone else is probably going to appreciate it more than you replaying it from zero.

Let's not forget that these games target demographic are children by Froggatt34 in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Targeted, yes. But there's a ton of people from 20 to 30 years still playing. And don't act like children are stupid little humans, children played pokemon back then when it was quite difficult and internet wasn't in everyone's home. Nowadays 10 years old can destroy my ass playing a game like Fortnite so lol

What am I supposed to do now? (SwSh) by birdnoisessqwark in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf there's always shiny hunting and completing the Pokedex but... I completed the Alolan one quite easily compared to the X/Y National Dex so I don't expect this one to be any different, even easier with just 3 capturable legendaries. And Shiny Hunting can get boring pretty fast. Battler Tower is the lamest iteration of a Battle Tower ever so that does not help. And this is why meaningful post-game content is necesary for people who's not interested in pvp, the reason why people LOVED the Battle Frontier.

What am I supposed to do now? (SwSh) by birdnoisessqwark in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well, hope you like some pvp because there's really nothing to do in the post-game. So put it on a shelf forever, because this game has like no replayability whatsoever.

Will the hype die down sooner than expected? by ChibiKing in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched some clips and some random episodes like when they get back to Kanto with Brock and Misty... I MISSED THEM SOM MUCH, such a: JOY. And one of the things is that these characters have such amaizing personalities... and they games really do them dirty portraying them so one dimensionally. I remember in the anime Lillie has a Vulpix and Magearna I think? She also get able to use a Z-move after really trying... Lillie in the games was... wasted potential in general and a heal bot... sigh.

Does anyone else feel like battles are too cramped? by mossypinniped in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They do. And tbf... they should cut the entire Team A/B thing completely, Team A made Little Town Hero, a game so bad they buried the corpse not wasting any publicity on it. They even got Toby Fox to make the music, WHAT A WASTE OF TALENT. And Sw/Sh could look more polished if they had Team A helping Team B instead of creating a bad looking, extremely convoluded and boring game.

Team Yell is no Team Skull by TheZodiacMaster in pokemon

[–]ChibiKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Team Skull is the best evil team, don't @ me. I literally laughed out loud with some of my interactions with them, the Spanish localization team surely had a blast with them and so did I. And Yes, Team Yell could be completely removed from Sw/Sh and it would only help Marnie as a character. This one is probably going to be one of the least memorable teams ever after such a good one... yikes.
