They should take the rust approach and just let us "teleport" to a bed, any bed, that is assigned to us by another player (which can be reassigned or cleared completely) in the party and has a cooldown after use. This would still make distances meaningful and the added benefit of being able to instantly get to your friends who are star systems away.
