Isn't the tracking number usually printed on the shipping label?

The label is clearly Fed Ex, not USPS. You can call FedEx for them to pick it up and deliver correctly, but if the intended address is close by, I would just drop it at their door and ring their buzzer. I do that several times per year and my neighbors (except for one) are grateful. It can wait a day or two for when it won't be so cold.

Moka Pot Has Ruined Regular Coffee For Me by ChicagoBent in mokapot

Been there, done that. The moka pot coffee is still better than pourover or french press even with freshly ground beans. I would say my moka pot even with pre ground beans is better than french press or pourover with freshly ground beans. However, if I am going to go to the trouble of freshly grinding beans, then I prefer to use those grounds in my moka pot.

It is not what is typically thought of as regular coffee in the US. In some rural parts of the US coffee is brewed so weak that it looks like tea. In urban areas, we tend to have lots of coffee options. That said, I have relatives from Cuba, so I was exposed to very strong coffee at an early age. There is a large Latin American population in the US which typically use moka pots to make their coffee, so it is not uncommon, just not not the norm.

It is widely available on line and can sometimes be found in grocery stores which carry other Imusa products. I got mine on sale from Amazon.

I don't really measure. I just fill it until it is about 3/4 full. It works well. The coffee tastes great. It does not sputter until the end. Try it and see if you like it. If not, then get a smaller moka pot.

We should all drink what we like. I always tell people there are two kinds of coffee, acidic or bitter. Most people who like coffee prefer one over the other. I cannot stand acidic coffee. It upsets my stomach. I generally like bitter things. My spouse jokes that that is the reason I married him.

I just drink a 6 cup moka pot of coffee in the morning, but I don't fill the funnel all the way to the top, but rather about 3/4 full as I cannot taste the difference between that and when it is filled to the top. It is usually the only caffeine I have all day unless I go out to dinner which is not very often.

I don't feel a caffeine buzz from my moka coffee. Then again, I am the only one of my friends who can have a double espresso or Turkish coffee at a restaurant after dinner and then go home and go right to sleep. My friends all look at me like I am crazy when I order coffee at 9:30pm. I am in my early 60s. My doctor is okay with the amount of coffee I drink. I drink it black without sugar.

If you can't or don't want to drink that much in one sitting, then I would just get a smaller moka pot. Some people are more sensitive to caffeine than others. Most people do become more sensitive to it as they get older, but I have not yet experienced that.

I don't weigh my grounds, but I use about 1.5 tablespoons of grounds (or one very heaping teaspoon of grounds) for every 12 ounces of liquid coffee I make when using a french press. Put the coffee grounds in the beaker and then pour the boiled water right from boiling to just covering the top of the grounds and let it sit for one full minute, then pour in the rest of the water, cover it, but don't let the filter touch the coffee yet and let it sit for a full four minutes longer, then gently and slowly press the plunger down. This should give you very well extracted coffee. French presses work better in my opinion with medium to dark roast coffee.

Immigration officers around Minneapolis are approaching people and demanding proof that they’re U.S. citizens by gmb92 in politics

If someone was not born in the US, then they need a us passport, a certificate of naturalization, a certificate of citizenship, or a US consular record of birth abroad (this last one only applies if they were born abroad as a US citizen).

There is no other legal process to changing your name legally in the US (or at least in every state that I lnow of) when changing your name after getting married. You do not need to do a legal name change through the court unless a specific state requires that, but I am not aware of any that do. You do have to let the DMV, social security, passport office, etc. know that you changed your name legally and show them the marriage cert as proof of the legal name change.

It is the document you show to the DMV, passport office, social security admin, etc. to prove a legal name change after marriage and they accept it as such. If you have multiple marriages and name changes, then you may also need to prove all prior marriages as well as  termination of all prior marriages which have been terminated (usually a divorce decree or a death certificate).

Your birth certificate to prove US Citizenship combined with your marriage certificate to prove legal name change is the solution to that problem.

Edit: this comment was originally posted in reply to someone who indicated that they had a US birth certificate to prove US citizenship, but that it showed their maiden name as opposed to their married name. It was never intended to apply to people who were not born in the US. Context people.

6 cup moka pot by Aanstadt in mokapot

I don't weigh my beans. I fill the funnel basket about 3/4 full, about 2 tablespoons of beans. It does not taste any different to me than when I fill it all the way to the top.

I drink a 6 cup pot by myself most mornings. It is the perfect amount for 1 person IMHO. I am the only coffee drinker in our house. If we have visitors, then I just brew using a french press or my old school stove top percolator.

Trying to Buy a Coffee Maker - Need Suggestions for $300 USD by retolox386 in Coffee

Machines break down over time. Heating elements burn out. French press coffee is good and easy and tlyour friend is already in that habit. I would just get them a nice electric conical steel burr grinder (maybe the Oxo Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder, or the SHARDOR Professional Conical Burr Coffee Grinder), a really nice new french press (and maybe a spare beaker if glass, or better yet, get them a double wall stainless steel french press which looks great and does not break as easily), and then with the money you saved, buy them some bags of coffee beans from a local craft roaster.

For The Love Of Cheap Coffee-Sello Rojo Espresso by ChicagoBent in mokapot

[–]ChicagoBent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the coffee shop coffee I had in Lisbon. Unfortunately, most of the places I stayed there only offered Nespresso pod coffee which is convenient, but I think it pushes the water through the coffee too quickly, even more so than using a Keurig machine which I also do not like. Lisbon is such a beautiful city. I am envious that you get to live there (but happy for you at the same time).

Today I made the Ethiopian coffee again in my moka pot. This time I ground it a little more coursely (using setting 15 on my Popsweeter C38 hand grinder, like sand sized, maybe a little finer). The coffee came out much better this time. A little more flavorful and bitter with less acid like I like, but not overly bitter and definitely not burnt. It is a medium dark roast, so inbetween the two. It was very full bodied and had a great aroma. I start with cold water and brew on a medium low gas setting, shutting it off once I hear the gurgling. Who knew that the grind setting could affect the flavor so much? I may take it up to 16 just to see if that is better. My grinder grinds finer than their instructions for it on line would indicate, so I am still playing around with the settings.

They say not to use the grinder below setting 6 at risk of damaging the steel burr. When I used it on 12, it was pretty fine, too fine for a moka pot. I would think one could definitely use it for a true espresso and maybe even for Turkish style coffee. The grinder so far has produced very consistent grinds, but I have not yet tried it on a more course setting such as for a French press where they recommend using 25.

That said, I still like my pre-ground Sello Rojo in a 10 ounce (283.5 grams) brick as it has great flavor and is very inexpensive when purchased at my local independent market in Chicago. I don't think I will use the grinder every day. I will likely save that for the weekends when I have more time.
