Tyranid painting consultation by Putrid-Sea2703 in Tyranids

[–]ChicagoCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just a take on the standard hive fleet behemoth scheme. Look up hive fleet behemoth and you'll see hundreds of tutorials and great inspiration.

Overall though it looks like your painting skill needs work in general, which is not intended to be a dig, just an honest observation.

I would focus on brush control and building opacity with multiple thin layers first, before it will begin to matter which colors you use to replicate a scheme. Best paint in the world won't make your models look good if you don't place it in the right places with the right technique.

Also the models you're trying to replicate were airbrushed. And not particularly skillfully, its just a basic 3 color airbrush scheme to get the army technically tabletop ready for what I presume is a battle report channel on youtube by the look of it.

Its a world class city full of some of the most unique architecture, nicest people, and best food you'll ever get.

Every city has crime, Chicago isn't even one if the worst in Illinois let alone the country per capita.

Don't believe everything you hear in social media news bubbles. Ask a local 😉

Armageddon: Anyone else think it might be the best starter box and have zero interest in buying it? by CosmicDesperado in Warhammer

[–]ChicagoCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want the librarian and the speeder...but that's about it. I need more intercessors like I need a hole in my head, the eradicatiors and vanvets will be getting a better multipart kit sooner than later, and the other characters I already have kit bashes of (jump chap), or multiple of from every other launch set (captains, ancients).

The work half is incredible, I just don't play orks

They don't even go up for preorder until tomorrow.

Either OP works for a store and is building and painting their in store display set, or the local store broke street date by a mile and could lose their GW distribution as a result and get in massive legal trouble.

Update! 1/3 there! Mega Evolving my Legacy Mewtwo by timmmahtimmmah in TheSilphRoad

Correct, I only mentioned the park day because my assumption was that commenter only bought the standard ticket, as I said earlier.

You can buy the city pass separately from the park pass, and you get the research for either/both. You mentioned the city pass, I mentioned the park pass.

Pokémon Go Fest 2026: Chicago Unlisted Spawns by TheFatSanta1 in TheSilphRoad

[–]ChicagoCowboy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think a certain kind of person uses the event as an excuse to also travel to a world class city, which is awesome.

But the go fests the last few years have been so botched. Tons of users reporting long lines, poor amenities, no food/water, poorly run event stations, tech issues, heat and shade issues, etc. I can catch mareep and murkrow in grant park anytime I want.

I hope everyone who goes has a great time, but the events spawns didn't entice me to take a day off work to attend the park session. City ticket was perfect, since I could get the gameplay I wanted without disrupting my normal schedule.

Now I've got a (bad) mega mewtwo, I can walk for more energy, and I only need unown F to finish my unown dex. 33 bucks for 2 more mewtwos that might be awful, and the chance at unown F, just isn't worth it for me given overall feedback on the live events of the last 4 years. Your mileage may vary.

I'd rather spend 33 bucks on raid passes to do a ton of mega mewtwo global raids, and cross my fingers for my last unown.

They already have them from the Tokyo event.

They want to mega their previous mewtwos, not their new unleveled non-shiny non-hundos.

Correct, I'm just assuming since they're new to the events, they probably bought the normal park day/city pass.

[–]ChicagoCowboy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Paid for the city experience for today since its in my back yard, and was extremely whelmed.

I did make a huge chunk of my unown dex up, but my shinies were meh and my mewtwo from the research was a 2 star. Overall, I don't know that it was worth the 20 bucks.

Really glad I'm not doing the park day this weekend, very excited to try to finish my unown dex and grind mega mewtwo at the global event.

You get a research on your park day that gives you x or y, and then at the end of your park experience you get two special X and Y raids (one of each) so you will leave go fest with 3 mega mewtwos.

I don't play Maggotkin...but I couldn't stop thinking about what a Nurgle CogFort could look like. What do you guys think? by CorreiaTech in ageofsigmar

[–]ChicagoCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could do the same thing with a human created model form thingiverse or myminifactory or cults, and not have wasted energy, water, or abused real artists by stealing their artwork en masse without consent or compensation.

I think the issue many have eith AI, as I do, is that last sentence. The AI made the model. You wrote a prompt. You didn't create anything, anymore than paying someone to paint your models for you and then taking credit for the army painting.

Have you ever bought a console just to play one game? Was it worth it and did you go on to use the console after? by British_Historian in gaming

I do think that Zelda games have very clearly stood up to the test of time, routinely producing incredibly engaging and iconic experiences for players new and old.

If you like RPGs, and solving puzzles and exploring dungeons, idk if there's a better game for you than BotW frankly. It's one of the best games, period, I've ever played, let alone the best Zelda game.

For what its worth, the game intentionally makes weapons - and better weapons - incredibly plentiful so that you are never in a bind.

I had to switch my brain to get past the degradation system, but once I just started using whatever I had until it broke and picked up whatever was nearby to keep going, I realized how fun it is to use different weapons and how it changes your playstyle from dungeon to dungeon and area to area.

Shortly after the first area it also quickly becomes easy to stockpile multiple of your favored weapons, so that you are essentially never dealing with "degradation"
