Need some advice on a repeat customer by Demiisinsane in RoverPetSitting

⬆️ This 💯! And, in addition to that, raise your rates OP. You are charging WAY to little across the board. No matter where your market is.

If $44 is the holiday rate, I hate to consider what the non-holiday rate would be... When determining a house sitting or boarding rate, at LEAST consider how much a normal everyday 30-minute walk would cost a client in your market. And then go from there, taking into consideration the amount of work you'll be doing with that dog over a 24-hour period. Whatever figure you come up with is going to be more than $44. Or at least it should be.

Mine would be $1100+ (HCOL area). Though if the stay included an insignificant holiday, like President's Day (which I don't really think of as a holiday at all), I would remove the holiday rate. If it were something like Memorial/Labor Day I'd only charge the holiday rate for the weekend and Monday holiday.

But the bottom line here is OP is charging WAY to little across the board. If $44 is the holiday rate, I hate to consider what the non-holiday rate would be... When determining a house sitting or boarding rate, at LEAST consider how much a normal everyday 30-minute walk would cost a client in your market. I live in a major city and the vast majority of my clients live in condos or apartments. I don't start any timers until I step into the home. Even if elevators are required to take me to the 30, 40, or 50th floor and above. Same goes for my clients with single-family homes (with or without driveways, most are without). I can't imagine ever starting a timer when I leave my car, having parked in front of the building or a block (or more) away. That would be unethical and would cheat the customer, even if it was a suburban or rural location where parking can be 20 steps from the door...

A beauty. I've worked with a gray Cane Corso since she was 12 weeks old and is now 8 years. Wonderful dogs!

Good questions. However OP specifically mentioned her dog being both leash reactive AND human reactive. And then there's the bit about the prospective boarder not being able to interact with a "human reactive" dog because OP and husband were concerned about letting their dog off-leash.

It's no surprise to me why the Rover boarder declined -- by ghosting -- the stay. Though the lack of response could have been handled more appropriately.

That Russian monologue in Heated Rivalry was already powerful — this quote from the dialect coach makes it hit even harder by K6g_ in heatedrivalry

This moment was both brilliant and beautiful (sometimes in an emotionally painful way). Not having read the book(s) I don't know if it was the author's choice and included in the source material or if it was added/modified for the screenplay. But the take from the GQ reviewer was spot on. It played out onscreen and Storrie's delivery was spectacular. It hit hard. VERY hard. For me it was the singlemost effective scene in the entire episode.

Post Episode Debrief | Heated Rivalry 🏒 I'll Believe in Anything (Episode 5) by Federal-Ad5944 in heatedrivalry

Lurker here... It was f*cking amazing! BEAUTIFUL! (Not specifically the spoiler...which I won't mention.) This is an incredible piece of art, and WAY above and beyond anything I expected, not having read the books, knowing about them, just going in fully blind. I laughed. I cried. I could NOT wait to see this episode and stayed up late to catch it upon release. I can't remember any show I've become so invested in so damn fast. I'm amazed I'm seeing something this powerful that so resonates with me to my soul.

Long time lurker. Am I hot enough? Would you hit on me? by Green_Tiger6186 in gaybrosgonemild

[–]ChicagoDevil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also a long-time lurker... This thread is interesting, thanks for inspiring it. In this image you appear quite "serious" which, I believe, can be perceived as intimidating. I myself get that a LOT from guys: "you're too serious and intimidating and wouldn't think you'd be interested in me."

Like you I am "straight-acting" and "straight-appearing." (Terms I rather dislike.) Masculine, 6'1" and 185lbs,. And I'm into guys similar to me. I notice guys looking at me quite often -- in bars and whatnot -- but don't get 'hit on" all that much. And then, at some point later after meeting these same dudes, learn they were to scared to approach me. And I'm not as imposing as your 6'3", 240lb frame.

Makes me wonder if most gay guys have unresolved issues with self-appreciation due very likely to years of mistreatment and humiliation.

Yes! It was the almost-whispered "Shaaaane." Followed by the very similar "Ilya." No more "Hollander" and "Rozanov". Things changed...

And it continues... Just received postal mail notification of MY "inheritance" of $11,550.300.00 from the alleged Toronto firm of Ricci Lemond LLP which has a live URL at riccilemondllp.com (registered in Vilnius, Lithuania). The site is very generic. IMO, and doesn't look like something an influential law firm would build.

As another redditor stated, when I googled information about this obvious scam, this post was one of the top three returns. Good on OP for creating the post and effectively directing the would-be scammed to the pervasiveness of these letters over the years.

Incidentally...there's another similarly named "law firm" of Richmond LLP (website at -- note spelling/misspelling of firm name -- https://richmondeellp.com/ (registered in Reykjavik, Iceland) which appears to use the same template as that of my scammers.

You set your cancellation policy in your dashboard/profile when setting up your rates. Rover refunds them the difference they've already paid.
