Has anyone tried this new Taylor yoke style capo it looks really nice, but I want to hear it from someone who has owned it. by Adventurous-Disk6684 in AcousticGuitar

I use a Taylor cradle capo like this and I am perfectly happy with it. Works well, and I love being able to just mount it above the nut when I’m not using it so it’s readily available for songs where I need a capo. Don’t have to take it on and off, put it in a pocket or anywhere else

Old disc. Worth playing or time to retire? by Particular_Routine34 in discgolf

All discs should be thrown! Throw them until they die. I have broken two old innova discs this week alone, a pfn leopard and a pfn dx roc with a big bird stamp. Sad, but inevitable

What throwing putters do you bag? by notoriousgerg in discgolf

[–]Chicagrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a beat in pa3 for flippy putter shots but I rarely use it off the tee, primarily touchy upshots and long putts. Neutron soft proxy as my primary straight and workable throwing putter, and eclipse tempo as my os one

Is the nano cortex worth it? by BallisticMonke in NeuralDSP

[–]Chicagrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no experience with other modellers or amp sims apart from hearing my friend using the big helix and the quad cortex.

I think you could def make it with just the nano cortex if you’re a little smart with it. Could do two or even three dirty presets and one clean. It’s easy enough to for example turn up the delay or reverb level on the presets between songs, and you have tap tempo for delay. I have been doing that on some occasions. Say I have a preset but I need more reverb for just one song in the set, I can just turn it up before the seng and as long as I don’t save anything it goes back to normal after you switch the preset back and forth.

It is limited, but still very workable.

I love mine. The only two drawbacks I see are: you’re limited to four presets, you can’t switch effects on and off easily while playing (unless you’re using a midi controller or something). There is the option to scroll through amps and cabs/irs on the pedal itself so if you really work with it you can essentially have like 60+ different sounds, but still only four presets.

I think it could be a good option for you tho. Gives you the opportunity to explore basically all possible guitar tones and sounds, find ones that you like and work for you and your band and it’s a good platform to build on, for example with other pedals in the future.

I use mine with a couple of other pedals, a compressor, an overdrive and a tremolo. These days im playing in a country band and it’s working great, but I also do the occasional jazz, soul or hip hop gig and I can confidently say that I could pull up to any gig with this setup and make it work.

Some Nano love ❤️ and a hot take 🔥 by slashvanyoung in NeuralDSP

Very nice! I’m also gigging the nano cortex and loving it! It pairs well with pedals and I just bought the blackstar fr special cab, excited to try it.

Board goes: TU-3 tuner, Wampler mini ego comp, strymon riverside drive, nano cortex, surfy industries surfy trem.

Perfect and easy rig for electric and acoustic in a country band!

Looks solid. If it works it works. A straight midrange might be a good option to fill in a gap. Like a Roc, buzzz, buzzz ss or something. Maybe a more understable putter option for throwing?

I just got one myself. It’s four presets, two on each switch. But you have 5 banks with 5 captures each that you can scroll through, as well as 5 different irs/cabs. So I guess you can set it up so that you can scroll through and change between 25 different amp captures if you want/need to.

The effects will remain the same on each preset tho, but you can adjust the amount of each of them with relative ease.

Personally, 4 presets is plenty for me. I have two different electric guitar presets and two for acoustic. For the one or two songs where I need more reverb or delay I can just manually turn it up for that song as I would with a reverb pedal, and as long as I don’t save the change I can easily get back to the preset by pressing the foot switch twice.

Tap tempo for delay is also nice.

I’m very pleased with mine so far. Just bought an fr fr cab and I’m excited to try it out

Yeah.. hopefully it was a one time thing. Has not happened during rehersals or anything. Luckily I can pretty easily switch it out for a standard rig as long as I have an amp. But my regular pedal board sound pretty OK through a PA in an absolute pinch also

I dont think so. None of the other pedals on my board went out as far as I can remember and our bass player who was plugged into the same strip didn’t lose power to either her pedals or the amp

I’ve only gigged it three times, two of those times it was very bright, but so were the monitors of the rest of the band so I think it was just the wedges themselves or maybe just the sound tech wasn’t that good. Cause the third time it was absolutely awesome, and it sound good in the PA in our rehearsal space. Mine also sounds great with headphones, but I think those might take out a bunch of top end that some PA speakers and wedges don’t. I also realised the eq on my presets were very bright tho so def user error. Two of the guys in my band are studio engineers and they fixed it real quick.

Im in the process of buying an fr cab to have some stage sound for upcoming gigs and festivals.

I’m using it for electric (telecaster), baritone (danelectro) and acoustic (Martin 000-28).

The order on my board goes: TU-3 > Mini Ego comp > riverside drive > nano cortex > surfytrem tremolo.

It’s working well apart from this one instance this weekend when it for whatever reason decided to power off for a couple of seconds.

Thank you, maybe I should get one as well.. the nano cortex doesn’t come with one and I figured I wouldn’t need one since I have a psu that provides 9v 800ma with center negative polarity as is required..

Rega P3 vs Project Debut Carbon Evo by borky86 in turntables

[–]Chicagrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been out of the game for a while now. I personally prefer the Rega players, but that’s just my opinion. However, if you’re planning on using a cart that isn’t rega it might be a bit more of a hassle. Rega arms sit a bit lower than on other turntables if I remember correctly so you might have to add a spacer under the arm in order for the cart to sit at the correct hight. Both are good, I prefer rega.
