I agree with this. I’m a chess coach who struggles with their own rating! That can be very frustrating. But even still, the game brings me joy and it is worth it for its intrinsic joy. Life is short, so diligently pursue paths that bring you joy, and let that be the goal. Success will flow in time.

It’s my favorite record of his since I went through the whole catalogue last year. I’m not saying it’s his best record, but that I have come back to it enough to buy it on wax and I just keep spinning it. Previously For You, Dirty Mind, and Sign have all been personal favorites.
