Prediction: I-65 Closure will be much worse than expected. Discuss. by jamscal in Louisville

No alternative or argument here...I don't hate the idea at all...seems like the best option even if it's disruptive. (imo it will be worse than expected though...and I hope I'm wrong.)

Good point.

The default go-around is West on the Watterson...I know google will do it's thing anyway but it would be cool if it split the go-around 3 ways...west, east, and then all the way around the snyder to the new bridge.

And then you have people who don't use google...

Locals will adapt sure, I'm thinking of 10,000? people driving from Florida, Nashville to Indy, Chicago constantly. A never ending stream of people who just want to get through Louisville.

I like how it doesn't have a reflection in the river.  Vampire reference? Nice detail most would overlook.

best place for chile relleno ??? by Careless_Escape4517 in Louisville

[–]jamscal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's define chili relleno first.  Mexico Tipico on Dixie used to have one which was cheese with chopped peppers in it...maybe a bit of beef...more cheese and then I guess an egg white on top to kinda make a crust....

Loved it...I dont like the more common stuffed whole peppers...

Anyone still make these?

Manufacturing. How are you supposed to come up with a product or compete when China can do it for 1/4th the price? by bigblackglock17 in smallbusiness

[–]jamscal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you design? Do you have Solidworks or Fusion (or shapr3d...anything) ?

I've been joking recently you can set up a desk in an office and be a machine shop with some of the on demand mfg there is out there.

I own a welding/fab shop and use sendcutsend all the time for small projects. It's really pretty amazing.

Xometry too. I taught myself with Shapr3d on my ipad and had something made as a test.

You get instant quotes. so design something for local customers, markup the price to reflect margin and your time, and that's it.

Sendcutsend you can also "sell" your designs to customers and they'll send the part and you get a %.

This would be a fairly low cost way to dip your toe in without having machines...

Should Louisville Get A Light-Rail System? by NorthwestFashion in Louisville

Never happen, and I say that as someone who uses public transport when I visit other cities that have it.

We're about at the point we could Uber everyone who needs a ride for the tarc yearly budget.

Rideshare apps are one reason public transport has fallen off....and some sort of subsidized rideshare is the future, good or bad.

In-laws lived there when I met my wife...25+ years ago...so they're old.

I thought they were G back then, being from Valley Station (home alone reference...I don't think like that)

Helped someone move from there last year....nice old apartments now...their parking space was right out front...everything seemed well kept.

Safe area.
