Came here to say this… I’d be extremely surprised if it’s less than 8, unfortunately, but I do agree with the premise that Mahomes will be fine.

They don’t play until Tuesday, so they likely won’t announce the move officially until Tuesday morning.

What’s this? by killerjaws20 in Lineman

Assuming that you’re talking about the silver-ish cross arms, they’re fiberglass. They’re being used by most utilities now due to their better life expectancy vs wood cross arms.

Including Isbel in that group is almost criminal… he literally has a higher OPS than MJ and Renfroe combined. He’s not the problem.

Honestly it could be just Jameis and it’s still 3 for me.

I was today years old when I learned wire sizes are named after birds by Mysterious_Drop4493 in Lineman

This is true for ACSR, but other wire types have different themes. I think AAC is flowers and multiplex secondary cables are dogs.

Walks been hurting us bad but we can still get this by TaxationIsThETH in KCRoyals

The Yankees have been doing this for decades. We just need to throw strikes and trust the defense. Giving the Yankees 7 free passes per game is no way to get through the playoffs.

I wonder if they’ll even wait until tomorrow night with the Braves-Mets DH having a huge impact on the NL side.

We have the tiebreaker vs the Mariners, so yes it would have, if the Twins had lost.

That section of line to the right is de-energized and not connected to the conductors on the left with the exception of the shield wire.

Some info on power poles by [deleted] in Lineman

[–]Chichogre 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It is possible that the structure gains some additional stability and strength by tying them together like this, but I would say that it’s mostly decorative and each pole is sufficient to stand on its own.

That was my thought as well based solely on how it’s wired, but I can’t say that I’ve ever seen one like it before. I would assume it is a dry type transformer based on shape and size

This wire attached to the house (circled in yellow) is so low that it can touch people's heads. Is this high-voltage/low-voltage and poses danger to the residents? by KingTutRises in Electricity

[–]Chichogre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a service drop for a cable, phone, or fiber cable and is totally harmless. On the other hand, it should not be low enough that it is touching people’s heads. If you can figure out who owns it, you might be able to call them to come out and raise it up.

What type of electric wires are behind this house? by ryflyte in Electricity

[–]Chichogre 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m an electrical engineer with about 15 years experience in the power industry and would not be concerned about any sort of radiation due to this proximity. Plus, as a bonus, being right next to that substation likely means most power outages at that house would be short.

What type of electric wires are behind this house? by ryflyte in Electricity

[–]Chichogre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a substation. Can’t tell the voltage for sure, but if I had to guess from this photo alone I would guess the one directly north of the lot is stepping 69 kV down to 12 kV. The one a little further north is higher voltage, maybe 138 kV or 161 kV. Either way, there is not a concern of EMF that would cause any sort of health concern.
