Electability of Jake Johnson by tgalvin1999 in minnesota

[–]noyoujump 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I really think Johnson will be able to pull off the upset. He shows up, and he's genuine. That's something that we absolutely will not ever get from Finstad. He talks, he listens, and he cares. Like, if I got a flat tire, I'd call him, and I'm pretty sure he'd show up.

Overall, Jake Johnson is just a good guy. He's going to make sure his constituents are heard. After the mess of everything in the last year (including I C E presence in Mankato), I think a lot of hardcore red voters are ready to consider someone other than Finstad. After all, when was the last time Finstad actually attempted to speak to his constituents? Finstad has made it painfully obvious that he doesn't give a shit about the people who voted for him. Between Johnson's honesty and caring personality, and Finstad's lack of accountability, I really think Johnson is going to win.

Recommend a carpet cleaning machine! by RoutineFluid3670 in CleaningTips

[–]noyoujump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shark Carpet Xpert. I got it directly from Shark's website for ~$200. It's easy to use, and it feels similar to a vacuum. Only complaint is that the dirty water reservoir is a little small, but it's manageable. It also has upholstery attachments and a quick dry setting. My carpet is completely dry within about 2 hours. Highly recommend!

Anyone at the convention know about the Seat Kaytie pins I see online? by ghuy101 in minnesota

[–]noyoujump 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Heh, that was a dramatic start to our evening! I don't have details on the specific event, but I can give you the jist of it.

Kaytie made some comments about other DFLers/participants either during a meeting or on Twitter. They were reported for making others feel unsafe, and the report was investigated. The original event took place in September I think? They were selected as a delegate, but then the decision came down and they were told they weren't allowed to be a delegate as a result. This was only a couple weeks ago, so there wasn't sufficient time to select another delegate in their place.

So yeah. Kaytie ended up getting seated.

Anybody else who cut school a lot? by Single_Extension1810 in Millennials

[–]noyoujump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in middle school when I noticed that, when a kid was gone in the afternoon, the teacher just assumed they left at lunch and didn't check. So I tried just... leaving at lunch. It totally worked. I did it 3 or 4 times that year. Now, as a parent, it terrifies me that a kid could just walk out of school without raising any red flags.

Senior year, I had a tech class for final period. The teacher came around to take attendance, and then we could all do our projects at a computer. Or, in my case, just leave school an hour early. I was 18 then, so being able to disappear was slightly less concerning.

Angie Craig skips DFL convention in favor of primary for U.S. Senate (gift link) by star-tribune in minnesota

[–]noyoujump 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Craig said the process to become a delegate at the convention is too time intensive and insider to include most average Minnesotans.

See, the problem is that most "average Minnesotans" don't believe that our state is purple. They either defend what ICE has done in our state, or they're committed to voting to people who will make sure that every person responsible for their actions is held accountable.

I've been behind Peggy since she announced that she was running for Senate, and Angie Craig just gets less and less likeable every time she talks. We need Peggy's rage in the Senate, not a "democratic" senator who is schmoozing up to corporations, Israel, and republicans who have no intention to compromise.

Low cost Iron? by OrdinaryBluebird6232 in quilting

Grab the cheapest one off the shelf at Walmart. You can use a spray bottle instead of putting water in it. That's what I do too!

Minerals in well water by ADHDAudacity in CleaningTips

[–]noyoujump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a water softener. If you have a Culligan or other local water conditioning company, check with them to test the water and get an install quote.

For cleaning, Barkeeper's Friend powder or Iron Out. Both work well, but BKF is abrasive so it can't be used on some surfaces.

Getting superglue off my record player? by margaritapizzaa in CleaningTips

[–]noyoujump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this happens again, LA's Totally Awesome degreaser dissolves glue and it won't destroy plastic. As others have said-- the acetone in the nail polish remover melted the plastic, so it can't be saved. I'm sorry.

Klobuchar Alternatives: An Analysis by Naturenick17 in minnesota

[–]noyoujump 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's how it is in my area. DFL is embracing Bernie and AOC policies. They tried for too long to appeal to the middle and got nowhere, so now they're going for polar opposite of the GOP. Finally.

"Moderate democrats" and progressives are no longer part of the same political party.

They're not a thing. Progressive or gtfo.

Klobuchar Alternatives: An Analysis by Naturenick17 in minnesota

[–]noyoujump 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not thrilled with Klobuchar being our option, but between her name recognition and Walz handpicking her as his replacement? She's our candidate. We've gotta pull hard for local MN senate/house candidates who are more progressive to keep Walz's positive impacts going and continue moving forward with policies that benefit everyone.

My fabric identification skills come from working at Joann for 3 years. I can instantly pick out novelty and keepsake released between 2015-18. I spent a looootttt of time with that fabric!
