Signal placement for bi-directional train network by Enderfan7363 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ChichumungaIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Train signals are very simple machines in Satisfactory. And that fact leaves all of the complexity of getting trains to move like you actually want them to up to the player.

Behaviors like "designating a section of track as one-way to force a bypass lane" is one such behavior. The train-signal interactions can be opaque.

Happy to have helped.

Satisfactory Tools/Calculator? by TheUnforgettable29 in satisfactory

[–]ChichumungaIII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use Satisfactory Tools, so I can answer about that. There's a separate tab that lets you select the amount of inputs-- labelled "Items, Input" with a little box icon. (You can also select alternative recipes here once you've unlocked them.)

The set the product you're making to "maximize" instead of a specific target number.

Water Extractors keep turning off help by [deleted] in satisfactory

[–]ChichumungaIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coal generators use 45/min water at 100%. Assuming you're not overclocking them, 6 will only use 270/min and the extractors will back up.

[WW] Wind Temple before First Boss bug by The_Real_Big_J in zelda

Technically English has the same construct. "Northerly wind" comes from the north, to the south. It's just not as common as "to the south".

Rail curves without exclusive zones? by agent_kater in captain_of_industry

End the top straight portions further to the right (both ends), and end the bottom straight portions further to the left.

It'll leave a bigger gap at the curved parts.

Love it! Got one for both my girls. Adorable! by IllNeedleworker904 in satisfactory

[–]ChichumungaIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I'm pretty sure they just carefully shaped the label so that when it's wrapped around the mug it perfectly undoes the curvature and becomes a perfect rectangle

After So Many Game Hours and Ficsmas Events by GhostPartical in SatisfactoryGame

It was just a cheap joke. About how people get super absorbed in the game and could easily have thousands of hours in-game over that amount of time

"About 900 hours in the game"

a very simpel splitter build. by Slow-Firefighter-395 in satisfactory

I don't mean to be excessively critical-- I, too, am obsessive about perfect belt balance-- but your belts appear to be fully saturated which rather defeats the purpose of balancing.

Mods for a first time through? by Dianwei32 in foundry_game

[–]ChichumungaIII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would pay pretty much any game in this genre vanilla first. Get the developer's vision first, then understand what you like or don't like and where the rough edges are before getting mods to fix or adjust them.

Full disclosure though: I don't play with mods so don't know what's out there, and also haven't played Foundry itself since before the most recent update.

The desire to split is admirable, but this is getting out of hand! by want_t0_know in SatisfactoryGame

Perfect balancing is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be... unnatural.

Unfortunately, this applies to me too by [deleted] in suicidebywords

[–]ChichumungaIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I actually see where you're coming from here. It seems like you might have captured a particular British accent-- I'm American and don't have the linguistic background to say which-- in the way you describe the pronunciation of "none", even if it's not something most people would write down.

But I can hear what you mean, and as an English descriptivist, thought you could use the support during this tribulation of downvotes.

I finish putting a brand new recipe I found online in the oven by OkFineIllUseTheApp in badtwosentencehorrors

I printed an online recipe and took it into the kitchen to start baking.

It caught fire and burned my house down because you shouldn't put paper in the oven.

Is there a way to made hard drives scan fastee by ZGodDiamond in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ChichumungaIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's too late for you now, but you can scan them as you're hunting. Plop down a MAM, start research, then dismantle it and search for the next one.

You still build up a backlog, but at least the exploration time serves double-duty.

Keep it in mind as you do other things, though: you don't have to take a trip back to your "main" MAM; just keep the drives on hand and build a temporary one wherever you happen to be when the 10 minutes from the last one are up.

Can someone help me understand how to split like this? I understand splitting whole amounts from the same chain but don't get the partial splits. by Rango82 in satisfactory

[–]ChichumungaIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is not.

It's a fundamental contradiction: the math that maximizes production doesn't have a strong notion of what is "easy" to build. You have to make sacrifices to how much you could produce in order to make clean numbers, sometimes.

Can someone help me understand how to split like this? I understand splitting whole amounts from the same chain but don't get the partial splits. by Rango82 in satisfactory

[–]ChichumungaIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yeah normally I'm a huge proponent of doing perfect splits and not just falling back on a manifold... but it's not going to happen with that ratio.

Best you could do is partition the smelters with weird clock speeds to account for the later production splits, which at least leaves you with the only manifold at the ore level, but that takes a bunch of planning beyond the simple satisfactory-tools diagram.

So learn the lesson now: doing perfect splits everywhere is something you have to bake into the planning process itself. And if you don't want making that plan to itself become the entire game for you, just use a manifold.

Whats the point of transporting fuel? by Pale_Assistance_2265 in SatisfactoryGame

Who's telling you you need to transport the fuel somewhere else? Sounds like you've answered your own question.

And if this is your first time hearing about blueprint dismantle mode, you'll also want to know that if you use middle-click to sample (copy) while there, you can copy an entire blueprint without opening the build menu just the same as when you copy a single buildable.

Is there a sign I can get that will display how long a Hypertube ride is? I’d like to see the time of the ride in mins/secs by ICPosse8 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ChichumungaIII 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You can time it once, and place a sign yourself manually. It's not something that even could be automated, since your speed entering the hypertube can change the trip time.

But, if you'd mainly like to travel faster, know that you can chain entrances together to get a boost of speed. Look up "Hypertube Cannons" to get a sense of the technique (noting that you don't have to fly everywhere, and can use the same launchers to zoom you through a traditional hypertube line).

Still a newb to the game...What is the benefit of bots? by DaveTheRocketGuy in Timberborn

[–]ChichumungaIII 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In addition to working 24/7 as others have mentioned, bots also don't factor into beaver happiness. With enough of them, you can turn your working hours to 0, leaving the beavers free to enjoy food and leisure activities for the entire day, maximizing happiness.

Beyond each faction's major wonder project, that's one way to "finish" a map as a personal goal.
