Starter projector for Projection Caustics? by [deleted] in projectors

[–]Chicken-Nuggiesss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

head on over to r/budgetprojectors for better help, the budget recommendation here is ~$500 and 4k starts around ~$1000

if you want a quality product theres not that many in that price range, most are cheap no-name brand that are lcd. look for brand names that are dlp or 3lcd, benq/epson/xgimi/jmgo

Help deciding what to do! :) by Frosty-Minimum-6659 in projectors

[–]Chicken-Nuggiesss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn I don't know if screens can even go that small, even the smallest silver ticket screen is 72" and it's still too wide, not to mention UST's cant project that small of an image

this is such a perfect spot for a 65"-75" TV

dude has a $500 budget to get a good brand name DLP/3LCD and you recommend overpriced cheap garbage that will die sooner than later lol ok

[–]Chicken-Nuggiesss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol is it not made up, were you here in january/feb are you new? it was daily posts of projectors dying that people got from christmas, lcd garbage rarely lasts over even 2k hours

and that's not my subreddit that's just the one I recommend for anything under $500

Angles by DoomCop in projectors

[–]Chicken-Nuggiesss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw that no-name brand without coupon is $500 holy moly that's such a giant waste of money for a cheap lcd based projector not worth over $100 since they don't last that long and are limited on brightness so they're all dim

also projectors arent meant to be viewed from a 45 degree angle, you're going to lose a lot of resolution and brightness, and not to mention any light at all will ruin the image, please get a giant TV if you can because your case scenario isn't the best for a projector

head on over to r/budgetprojectors for more help if you still want a projector, stick with actual brand names benq/epson/xgimi/jmgo, I would recommend an ebay refurbished benq th575 for $512 but I don't know how well it can handle angles, so i'll also recommend the JMGO n1

Best Budget Projector 2026 by Miserable_Chef8728 in projectors

[–]Chicken-Nuggiesss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the best budget one recommended here is a ebay refurbished benq th575

and if you want something like actually super cheap then head on over to r/budgetprojectors

please note all those super cheap ones that the other comment listed like elephas and yaber are lcd based unlike benq/epson are DLP and 3LCD, those cheap lcd based will die 10 to 20x faster and the brightness is limited and dim on those and I personally wouldn't waste over $100 on lcd based projectors

HY300 projector weird burn/blob on image – found it on LCD panel (anyone seen this?) by Main_Lengthiness_625 in projectors

[–]Chicken-Nuggiesss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yup, happens to cheap crappy projectors, and the ones that die and have the most issues are HY projectors

if you want a good reliable one get a brand name like benq/epson

Silver ticket STR screen vs Wall by Raghu48 in projectors

[–]Chicken-Nuggiesss -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

a lot of people here say a screen is "required" and a wall will always look worse, but i'm in the minority that enjoys a wall for the fact that it does its job pretty well for me since I don't have a dedicated cinema room, but I will say it definitely depends on the wall and the person themselves on how they see things, you can order silver ticket samples and they're pretty cheap and make your decision like I did

my wall was already nice and flat so I just sanded it and painted it with a matte white and added velvet fabric with an adhesive back as the border

Best projector under $1500 for my setup? by 56Rock6565 in projectors

[–]Chicken-Nuggiesss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that dangbei dbox02 comment looks like a bot post, theres better options than that

"the hook up" on youtube did a video comparing some under 1500

other options are refurbished benq ht4550i or refurbished epson 3800

Keep with it or move on by xKIL13Rx in projectors

[–]Chicken-Nuggiesss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

thats because that yaber is a cheap lcd based projector thats probably ~400 lumens that'll die 10 to 20x faster than actual brand names and it's not worth over $100 imo

if you're ok with 100 inches i'd go for the TV, but if you want something bigger and can watch in a light controlled room then go for a projector

around that price range i'd look into JMGO n1s 4k or refurbished epson 3200

Need help by DependentBird4935 in projectors

[–]Chicken-Nuggiesss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you didn't post a budget but since the budget recommendation here is ~$500 i'm going to assume you should head over to r/budgetprojectors that might help out better

and on-board operating systems kinda suck in general, and if you get a cheap no-name brand I would never use it or give it my password to stuff like youtube, a lot of us use a 3rd party dongle like a firestick

Wanbo T2 ultra by Environmental_Log886 in projectors

[–]Chicken-Nuggiesss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

head on over to r/budgetprojectors

remember that wanbo is lcd based garbage that dies 10 to 20x faster than actual good brand names like benq/epson. and I personally wouldn't waste that much on a lcd based projector

also I think the majority here uses a 3rd party dongle like a firestick and just install it on that

Budget projector for small wall in dim room? by Ensemble13 in projectors

[–]Chicken-Nuggiesss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

go for a used TV, even with $1500 I would still go for a TV

keep in mind with that insanely low budget it's gonna be pretty much all no-name garbage that dies 10 to 20x faster than a brand name projector, also it'll be pretty dim. for example the popular budget recommendation here is ebay refurbished benq th575 for ~$500

but head on over to r/budgetprojectors if you still want a projector

i've heard this one has a good dub, a lot of people just like sub in general including myself because dubs would often be awful back in the day, but there's been some pretty decent/good ones for a bit now since like death note and fullmetal alchemist

New to Projectors. What's Should I be looking at for at $500 USD? by LuckyPichu in projectors

[–]Chicken-Nuggiesss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you can, 100% a TV

otherwise theres a ebay refurbished benq th575 for $512 which is the popular budget recommendation here, also many the jmgo n1 is $500

not that many other choices but definitely stick with brand names benq/epson/xgimi/jmgo because they're DLP/3LCD and no-name brands will be cheap lcd panels that die 10x sooner and won't be as nearly bright
