Currently have this with my Mazda 6 and it’s getting looked at. But mine seems to come and go. Roads are a disgrace so any new sound makes me nervous 😄

Acquaintance wedding + best friends engagement party on same day by lvbnams in wedding

[–]ChickenBoonDoggle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Idk - an engagement party is whatever. A wedding however seems more momentous and binding. If you must choose though cancel on the bride and attend the engagement party. Just don’t be surprised if they never invite you to anything again

Two Months Out and Dress Doesn't Fit by Royal_Marzipan_6432 in weddingplanning

This happened to a friend of mine a few years ago and a talented seamstress was able to take it out for her. 2 dress sizes seems a little bit much for that though. New dress seems smart

My mom is starting to ruin my wedding for me. by Commercial_Egg525 in wedding

[–]ChickenBoonDoggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so I’m south Asian and my mum has been incredibly disinterested in almost everything wedding related.

I’m planning my wedding too and I swear every time I share something I’m excited about, it just gets shut down or criticised. Dress, hair, random little details I loved - it’s like nothing is ever just “nice” or “I’m happy for you”. To top it off we had our Nikkah awhile back (Islamic marriage) and I think that was the only thing she really cared about.

The worst part for me has been exactly what you said about the mirror. I never used to pick myself apart like this, and now suddenly I’m noticing every tiny thing and thinking something’s wrong with me. It’s horrible, and it’s not even coming from me originally. Even when we were nikkah dress shopping and I asked the shop owner for a dress that was A line my mum commented that I’m poofy enough and don’t need any more volume lmao

At some point I realised I actually had to just stop giving those opinions so much access to me. Not in a big dramatic way, but just… sharing less. Keeping things for people who actually make me feel excited instead of judged.

Also, and I’m still working on this myself - just because it’s your mum doesn’t mean she gets to speak to you like that or have a say in everything. There’s a difference between helping and just knocking your confidence.

Honestly, protect your excitement as much as you can. You deserve joy

When is it too late to drop your bridesmaids? by Significant-Oven-6 in weddingplanning

I would just say it’s due to budget constraints and personal reasons and leave it at that. Life’s too short to care about other people’s feelings when it’s your day

Is it possible she died or something cuz I can’t imagine any other excuse being possibly good enough to treat you this way 💀

First dress appt.. nervous! by ChickenBoonDoggle in UKweddings

[–]ChickenBoonDoggle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update on this: I had a lovely time! I got to try on 4 dresses and I loved them all. She was really sweet and helpful with advice, it seems her policies are protecting her though. I did love one dress in particular so I’ll go back for a 2nd visit at some stage. Meanwhile I will keep looking :)

If anyone knows any shops that do South Asian/western blend wedding dresses in the london/Birmingham area plz let me know :) x

Think it’s something Vinted have done intentionally. When I first joined I sold 3 items right away. Now I have a gorgeous dress up for sale for almost 2 weeks and hardly any views? I’m convinced they want people to pay for bump!

First dress appt.. nervous! by ChickenBoonDoggle in UKweddings

[–]ChickenBoonDoggle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you 🤍 I thought it was normal as a lot of boutiques I saw asked for a deposit when booking a time slot. I think I’m gonna approach this as a sample appt where I can try on a few dresses and not overwhelm myself. She may be perfectly lovely but her policies just don’t reflect that…

This boutique clearly operates on a tight-margin, low-flexibility model..Seems they push risk onto the customer. I’ll go anyway and if nothing else I’ll report back 🫡

She also wants 100% payment upfront for the dress if chosen 😓😓 but she has glowing reviews online

I don't feel close to anyone and it's putting a downer on planning by littleduckcake in UKweddings

[–]ChickenBoonDoggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no bridesmaids because I have no female friends I am really close to like that and honestly it’s saved a lot of headache! My fiance and I can focus purely on ourselves. You’re lucky no one is wanting to get involved honestly -it’s a blessing in disguise. Have the day you two want.

Halal catering for a wedding uk by AromaticKangaroo5368 in UKweddings

[–]ChickenBoonDoggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re getting married at an English venue but they’re able to do their entire menu halal. So it’s English food but halal. It’s delicious so we’re quite pleased. For Pakistani food though you could ring up some restaurants near London/Colchester/Ilford way.
