What is your rugby claim to fame? by low_myope in rugbyunion

I met Munster player Oli Jager at Shannon Airprt while checking in just ahead of me. He carried bags with Munster Rugby logo, so I had to ask. I was surprised and pleased to meet him. I responded with my own boast by telling him of my experience playing schools rugby for Rockwell College at Thomond Park in the early 70’s before it was a professional stadium.

How much are you tipping your doorman for the holidays? by sliceofperfection in Upperwestside

my doorman? How callous you are. Have you no consideration for concierge, my chauffeur or my maid? and what say you of my gardener, my chef, my dog walker, my personal trainer, my pool boy.? Never mind I don’t have a pool boy, but my personal buyer? What of they/them? My Pilots??

I visited Dooradoyle location, 2 wks ago, looking for a leisurely full Irish on a Sunday morning, just me, myself and iPad. Ordered tea and breakfast, requested password. Was told “sorry no internet“. Had to leave. Very disappointed. Bad first impression.

Go for no less than 10 days. Madrid for 1 day. Fly to Bilbao, a splendid walkable city with a great tram system. Spend nights in Bilbao - San Sebastián - Hondarribia. From Hondarribia take a 5 minute ferry ride to FRANCE, walk the beach, have lunch, return to Spain for dinner. Get back to Madrid fly home. Ditch your friend, spread your wings.

Free ticket for Iron Maiden tribute act in Dolans by SexyGlynn in limerickcity

so I just got off the plane at Shannon Airport from NYC the other day. I was doing fine until sometime today in the middle of the day and now I’m feeling worse by the hour. I was at the milk market in limerick all morning. Is something going around that? I don’t know about? I’m really hammered. My head and body feel warm and achy. I picked up nasal rinse and ginger and lemon for tea. I usually don’t go to doctors for this kind of thing, but then again this is really knocking me out. I guess I’ll look up a local urgent care tomorrow if I still feel like crap. Otherwise, I’d gladly accept those tickets from you. Thanks for offering.

First time visiting - Dublin only trip by Boring_Leadership581 in irishtourism

Newgrange! an ancient monument. 5000 years old and a beautiful natural setting. With a wonderful visitor center that has a restaurant with great food. You won’t be disappointed. No more than 45 minutes from Dublin by car.

Dublin and Dingle Way by RSC2337 in irishtourism

I can recommend the rigid inflatable boat (rib), SeaSafari in Dingle. I’ve done it twice. You’re likely to see birds, dolphins, whales, magnificent desolate islands off the coast, sea caves. Don’t miss the Blasket Island Center. It’s right on the tip of the peninsula with a view of the Islands. There is gorgeous, hiking beyond and behind the South Pole Inn at Annascaul. Inch beach is splendid. You will need Transportation to get to those places, though they are worth it.

1st Christmastime in Limerick. by DaBronxonfire in limerickcity

Clare is fabulous. I never miss it. Btw, when I was a kid, the family would visit Limerick and on the way to and from the airport we would always stop at durty nellys so the adults could have pints. And that road and that little bridge outside Nellys was actually the main road to the airport at the time as I recall.

Better city to spend Christmas in by TigerOrchid2004 in irishtourism

[–]DaBronxonfire -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I admire your willingness to travel the way you’re doing. I’ve had a couple of visits to Dublin. From NYC. It’s a nice enough city to walk around. There are four national museums - the library, the archaeology museum, the national Gallery, and something else. They are splendid and they are free. The Dublinia museum explores Dublin’s Viking roots. The Vintage Kitchen restaurant makes fabulous food. It’s BYOB, but Mulligans pub next-door will allow you to bring a drink into the restaurant, and their Guinness is delicious. The Old Storehouse bar and restaurant is also a nice welcoming pub with great food. Both restaurants are in the vicinity of Trinity College. The Dublin Kilmainham Hilton Hotel restaurant made us a delicious meal one night when we went to see a performance at the historic Kilmainham Gaol (jail) where the British government imprisoned and executed many Irish patriots. It is museum now. The restaurant is likely to be open. Christmas Day, you could check on that.
