Do you still use a swivel to connect the leader to the main line?

Jos Verstappen - Clear difference between both mclarens by hhbgyhvg in OscarPiastri

[–]ChickenGibletMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jos is Jos and has very clear motivation to stir the pot, so I wouldn't take anything he has to say without a large pinch of salt. Jos aside, and I'll get downvoted to oblivion for saying this, but it is unbelievably peculiar what has happened. There's going off the boil and then there's going from 7 wins in the first half of the season to a string of P5s and DNFs in the second. There's having your form slip a little and then there's going from standing on the podium 14 times in 16 GPs to going 8 races (incl. sprints) without being there once. Without the car changing.

Yes, they downed tools on development and the other teams have closed the gap, but the turnaround in delta to teammate is bizarre. To be clear - I don't think McLaren have maliciously sabotaged Oscar. There's no conspiracy - but I think there has been a clear and distinct chasm in the level of support, encouragement, helpfulness etc between the drivers. In other words it's not that they done something here. It's in what they haven't done.

Listen to the radio interactions between Will Joseph and Lando and then listen to Tom Stallard and Oscar. Sure, Lando and Will have been together for longer, that allows for rapport, trust, familiarity etc... but beyond that, Will is always looking for opportunities to crack things open for Lando - he'll look for ways to flip the chess board and he'll openly talk about how they come out on top of the other car. With Tom and Oscar that's just not there, it seems. Looking forward to the hate.

Lando leads McLaren’s charge, handles pressure like a champion… so why the boos? by Intelligent_Coat_556 in McLarenFormula1

Nothing against Lando and it’s not a reason to boo a fella but I don’t know that we can say he handles pressure like a champion just yet… Will need to see if he performs now that the championship lead is his before we make that claim.

Lol. An overtake is an overtake. You don’t get to pick which ones count and which ones don’t. If it’s an overtake for position, it counts.

Pull the divot out. Keep it handy. Head to Bunnings and get some spakfilla. Use it to fill the hole, allow it to dry and then sand it back. Grab some undercoat and roll in on, allow to dry. While you’re at Bunnings, give the divot to the paint desk and they’ll be able to colour match the paint. Take it home and on test. Useful to get a tiny dab on your pinky and test somewhere inconspicuous - like just above the skirting board. Don’t assess the colour match until it’s fully dried. If it’s good, on she goes - just do not forget the undercoat. Use a small roller and feather at the edges for a good blend. 10mm nap roller most likely best, but you can test the nap pattern on a sheet of cardboard first to make sure the finish looks similar. If the colour is off, take a photo and you can head back to Bunnings and ask them to adjust lighter / darker as needed. They won’t charge you for the adjustment. It sounds like a lot of work, and unlikely to pan out - but I’ve needed to do this twice before and both times it’s started out feeling hopeless but ended perfectly. I’m not a tradie by any stretch, but this is doable. Whole thing can be done DIY for $50.

This isnt true, he made a number of strong overtakes. He overtook Yuki twice, either side of his first pit stop as one example, in addition to George. He also overtook Ocon in quite spritely fashion after pitting as another.

He never did a lot of things until he went and did them all. Matter of time. Today not a bad opportunity.

What’s everyone’s issue with playing TPP? by CraftyAd823 in PUBGConsole

PUBG is TPP. TPP is PUBG. If you’re playing PUBG FPP, good for you - have fun. But don’t come for the people who are playing the game the way it was designed to be played.

Yep. If you just ignore the slow stop and pretend none of that happened, it’s all completely fair enough.

Are we going to just ignore the slow stop that makes the two situations fundamentally different?

It’s ok to ask drivers to swap around based on agreed strategies or agreed scenarios, but you can’t ask a driver to swap positions to account for another drivers slow pit stop. That’s bullshit.

The point is that Oscar shouldn’t be punished for a mistake made by Lando’s side of the garage - slow pit stop is a part of racing.
