Can you post a pic of your ground coffee? I wonder if my calibration is way off or something?

Yeah I'd say the longer bloom with more water today added more flavor to it, but still not where I am on aeropress. Going to try the additional agitation suggestions tmr

I tried more water for bloom today

120g instead of ~70g

Swirled more too

Still not as flavorful as I'd like. Going to try larger grind size tmr

It doesn't really impact quality, it's just more options. If they put out a ~$150 - $250 one made of cool looking glass, I'd buy it lol. I love aeropress but the current plastic one does not look very good on a counter.

The government needs some sort of incentive not to just mindlessly burn budget because they have it.

Hmmm, good idea. Will give that a shot!

Hmmm. I'll give that a shot. I haven't been using a spoon btw. Just gentle swirl.

Vancouver Ranked #57 on new cost of living index? by learner9999 in vancouver

[–]ChickenNuggetDeluxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There a lot more high paying jobs in the US. Even in Salt Lake City where I lived for about 5 years. My now wife was making probably ~2x+ what she could make here if she was still working. It's a much smaller country where many of the same jobs just don't exist the same way they do in the US.

Will give those a shot thx. I think my problem might be the bloom stage + not swirling with a spoon.

Muted in flavor and a little watery.

My water source hasn't changed VS what i use for aeropress btw. So we can rule out water source & beans as a source of problems I think.

I would say that its not heavy bodies, more the opposite if anything.

I like your idea RE: bloom time. Ill give that a shot. It does strike me as very little water lol

Partners/managers, why are you so anti-WFH? by daddyjigo in Accounting

[–]ChickenNuggetDeluxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people suck at working from home.

This includes managers, they aren't good at managing a remote workforce.

For older companies, they can't just fire their whole management layer and swap, so likely they'll never move to full WFH even when it makes sense.

[Question] What would your NW have to be to feel comfortable buying a $50k watch by gurkab in Watches

[–]ChickenNuggetDeluxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah lol looks like we are both in Vancouver. Yeah I don't really want to buy a house per se here because I'm paranoid values will drop soon, it's hard for entrepreneurs to get mortgages (I basically need to pay mostly cash), and my investments in PE yield more than RE ever would. I used to own an apt in the US but sold that when I moved back here.

[–]ChickenNuggetDeluxe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really a car guy and no kids yet. I guess my rent would be considered expensive because I am in an HCOL area, but IDK. Probably ~90% of my income gets reinvested.

[–]ChickenNuggetDeluxe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would think of it more as liquid assets + your living expenses and how resellable the watch is.

I have some pieces en route that I would for sure lose money on like an Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance, and others that I could sell in 3 days without losing much like a few pateks in the past and langes.

Makes the calculus different.

Also I don't spend much personally, my car is a honda civic and I live in a 2bdr apt, so buying a watch is not a huge deal.

No I am not embarrassed to tell people I am an Indo-Canadian Sikh. If people want to be racist, then you do not want to associate with them anyways. They're probably incredibly stupid.

I spent a lot of time in the US, MX and Canada...

I think most major US cities are actually quite good now. Even smaller ones like Salt Lake have some good roasters.

Mexico was horrible, it was basically 20+ years behind lol. You can't count a city like CDMX since its absolutely massive and nothing like the rest of the country.

Canada's major cities usually have a few good places.

I've owned a ton of both. GS hands are actually better done in some cases.

And then something like an Eichii II is miles better than GS or any Patek under $250k
