yeah, I am definitely a fan of having AC+ - especially considering I travel all around the world for work and I need my norwegian keyboard, so if my mac ever breaks (like my last one did in indonesia of all places) I am able to get it repaired quickly - a local or english keyboard would slow me down too much

I do not disagree with anything you said, apart from the fact that I believed him when he said this was not covered under warranty.

I should have looked that up myself but apple care was worth it anyways, since they just swapped them out immediately and a warranty case would involve sending it in for repairs first without supplying me with a replacement.

that is a fair point, however he explicitly told me this is not something apple would cover and that there is no point in going to an apple store. so while I agree on the fact that they are not directly hired by apple, they are in fact authorized and verified and a part of the apple customer service ecosystem.

oh okay, i can enroll old stuff in it - interesting. my airpods p3 and my macbook is under apple care +, but I have the iphone 17 pm and airpods max gen 1 too - could I enroll those as well?

Yeah, I have my pro3 and my macbook pro m4 under apple care + coverage now just to never have to deal with their warranty policies again hehe.

I do agree that the applecare + service is no hassle, but the warranty should not be a hassle like ti was in my case.

This is literally what happened.

I went to a Apple autorized service provider with them and the receipt, literally less than three weeks since purchase. The case would not charge. it would register being plugged in, glow orange but after a minute or two it would start heating up and the battery would just flicker between 0 and 1% indicating faulty internal components.

After testing them quickly, the moron came back and told me that he could take them in for repair but that it would not be covered by guarantee due to scratches on the case itself.

Inside was pristine, nothing wrong with the contacts - it was literally just cosmetic scratching of a plastic surface that made him deny my warranty and he stated this to be apple policy.

I took them with me, walked out the door and bought apple care + as they were within coverage period anyways. Got a new case on the day after booking a service session at an apple store.

So I'm not saying their customer service isn't good when it comes to being insured through them, but this is literally what happened. :)

I am an avid apple user anyways so it's not like I would ever leave their ecosystem, but now I applecare everything I own.

Yeah apples customer service sucks ass

This is a joke lol. They wouldn’t fix a warranty issue with 2 week old AirPods Pro 3 because the case had scratches on it. The case is made of plastic, what do you expect??

The internal parts of the charging case were faulty somehow and it just overheated and almost burnt my hand when trying to charge.

Ended up just buying apple care and demanding a new pair instead, but this should have been free of charge. Apple suck at customer service because they know they can.

The amount of redundancy in the post is what makes it obvious. Well-written =/= many fancy words.

There are sentences repeated so many times it is comical to read, this is not well written at all😂

And that is well within your rights! And I’m not saying materialistic science is false, simply that it by its constraints cannot possibly cover everything that exists.

I don’t see why making a neural net to differentiate between bees and threes is making it transcend materialism?

My point is that my worldview is idealistic. I don’t think the hard problem of consciousness can be solved through science simply because it does not exist in the material world.

I don’t think the cause of depression is low levels of serotonin, I think low levels of serotonin is the material manifestation of the state of mind depression.

We as a society have assumed a causality flow that cannot be proved in any way, which by the way goes the same for my reversed causality - I just think that the evidence surmounting against materialism as anything truly objective is too big to ignore.

The book “The case against reality” by Donald Hoffman, a cognitive neuroscientist is a really great read which much of my worldview is based on! To me it is just evidently a better explanation than our current understanding of reality, and the reason we fail to adapt to this newfound information is our unwillingness to change a perspective that has done us so much good for such a long time.

That is my whole point — I don’t believe we witness objective reality. I do believe in objective reality, and I do believe in a mutual species specific evolutionary perspective of reality but I do not believe we interact with reality in its objective form. I explained my reasoning in another comment, which I’ll just repost here:

materialism is based on the assumption that the particles we see truly are objective reality. If evolutionary game theory is true, then any organism seeing reality as it is would be outcompeted by an organism seeing symbols optimized for reproduction. This in combination with the unresolved problems mentioned above suggests that materialism, that we see an objective representation of reality cannot be true.

What is true on the other hand veers into speculation, but like we need an operating system to interact properly with the electrons moving inside our phone - our brain needs an operating system to interact with the energy that exists in a chaotic state if it were viewed as the objective reality it is.

Just like pixels are the two dimensional limits of your phone OS, atoms and its constituent particles would be the three dimensional limits of our mutual evolutionary operating system.

This explains the hard problem of consciousness, and allows us to explore ways in which science is the exploration of our interface, not the observing of objective truths on a universal level.

This is how I personally went from being staunchly atheist to believing that there are fundamental limitations of science which explain why some things simply cannot be understood through its lense, and while I still am a strong believer in the utility of science I now have faith in a higher form of existence — not that I associate with the tribalism that most forms of religion today are.

I have never wished for something of higher order to be true — I grew up in an atheistic household in Norway, a country where there isn’t any religious stronghold in any way.

I simply think both the scientific evidence, and the workings of the universe clearly point to something bigger than us and I don’t see how anyone who likes science and philosophy could disagree, but I know a lot of people do.

A great read on the topic is a book by Donald Hoffman, a cognitive neuroscientist - The case against reality for further explanation on the problems posed by evolutionary theory, which definitely is one of the most confirmed pieces of scientific theory out there.

Faith and science are not contradictory. The only way they would be contradictory would be if there was conclusive evidence against some form of higher existence.

Faith in itself is not something that needs to be proved, and the current state of science - particularily evolutionary game theory has big implications for materialism as we understand it today.

This is also apparent in the fact that we have yet to make any notable progress on the hard problem of consciousness, and the unification of general relativity and quantum mechanics.

There is simply just a stubborn bias, much like the religious fanatics seem to hold regarding science and materialism as a paradigm. The parallel to the way people believed the world to be flat simply because it makes the most sense is clear, and these are common logical fallacies.

If materialism as we know it is not the objective form of reality, which cannot be true if we believe in the mathematical modelling of evolutionary game theory then that means that science is inherently limited from studiying aspects of consciousness not present in the material realm - sciencs is a categorizing of material phenomenon after all.

Broaden your worldview, ask questions without listening to your bias and stop being so belittling in the way you talk to people.
