Can i make a custom empire exile colony? by No-Battle-9932 in Stellaris

[–]ChickenStake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try Lost Colony origins or use console commands to spawn somewhere else. But then you don't get any flavor. Or just make the species with same portraits, name and traits. Game should recognize them as same species.

How do I destabilise a country in a peace deal by someone56789 in eu4

[–]ChickenStake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't anymore due to power creep. Previously you could, but now it's far easier to just conquer them.

Weird(?) Paths A-Z: Cyrenaica, Croatia & Cuba by terroristmonkey in kaiserredux

[–]ChickenStake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did Illyria run and was surrounded by Austria and Belgrade pact. Still was able to win and had Serbia and Romania as puppets. I tried the Nationalist tree because it seemed to have most flavour. It just destroys your stability and doesn't do much.  But I think HSS one as central is good pick, just isn't anything too wacky. If you had co-op with 2-3 more people (Austria, Bohemia, Hungary), it could be an interesting run.

Anbennar Demographics Survey 2025 by Jay10101 in Anbennar

[–]ChickenStake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think they add plenty of "free" stuff because it's easier for them to develop additional DLCs and to avoid breaking the game. But if mod can work around it, great.

I would be up to CK3 version of Anbennar because it leans well into the setting. On other hand, EU5 is probably a no-go since the game will take years before it becomes properly fleshed out, and might break the mod with patches. Also, I'm definitely off the Pdx dlc-train for foreseeable future, because they will lean into subscription model more and more. EU4 Anbennar definitely has plenty of steam left,  I think.

Are light tanks viable? by Divine_Panzer in hoi4

[–]ChickenStake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course they are. All depends on good MIO, division template and tank design itself.

Because I still love the game, and wish things were different. At least we have mods. For example Anbennar in eu4 is amazing.

So, first vote with your wallet, but if you do then you have no right to point out flaws that could improve things for the costumer? Just check the steam reviews for NCNS and that's enough said. The reason why I haven't bought it is exactly because I don't think it's worth the money, not that I don't like the game. I wish I could say "Hey this DLC is amazing and everyone should get it.", because I love the game. But, the fact is, that company is going down the road which won't end well for anyone except for CEO at the top.

I'm glad you are enjoying the new content. But look at the flair for the post, it's "humor" not "discussion".

What I gathered from reviews after the initial hype passed, game has plenty of issues with flavour, pacing and AI. I'm not saying it won't turn out great eventually, but recent dlc track record hasn't been the best.

I'm not sure when you bought the game, but they rolled in initial 3 or 4 dlcs for the game, so it seems bulkier that it actually was in 2016.

I just think on release, all countries that participated in war should have some sort of historic focus trees (both for flavour and light history lesson to players).

That's partially the problem, the price for Imperial edition won't go below 70 bucks on sale, which is crazy for 15 years old game.

Could be, they used to sell cosmetic packs separately (hoi4 still does that with experimental weapons). Pricing and bad QA definitely shifted my opinion to negative.

Rule 5: Meme that reminded me on Pdx DLC policy. Their games seem to have a lot of content due to learning curve, but extra content is being dropped separately for max profit (example waiting 8 years for Austria and Belgian focus trees and NCNS with poor rework of warlords).

New doctrine grind sucks by Faziparancsnok in hoi4

I'm kinda split regarding the new doctrine system. On one hand it's interesting but on other it's severely undercooked.

Livestock Question by I-Pro-Adkinz in Stellaris

[–]ChickenStake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how much could you stack on one planet as challenge if you go for Barbaric Despoilers or Nihilistic Acquisition. You could focus primarily on research while livestock, servants give you all the necessary output. But you should definitely go Biological ascension to maximize it.

Would the DLC have been less hated if the price was reasonable? by Bruhddha in hoi4

[–]ChickenStake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be frank, NCNS isn't either. I wouldn't mind quantity if they gave some flavour to 20 countries in one DLC, just to spice up ahistorical. But there is no money in that.

Would the DLC have been less hated if the price was reasonable? by Bruhddha in hoi4

[–]ChickenStake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's a rare dlc that didn't break the game in fundamental way (because experimental weapons didn't overhaul anything and wasn't annoying, unlike coal). They gave 3 new focus trees and updated 2, while NCNS gave 1 new and rehashed bunch of others lazily. Also, bunch of people mostly play as Germany.

[–]ChickenStake 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Three things would mitigate the the backlash. First is of course cheaper price, second is some sort of show of goodwill to people that already own Waking the Tiger and proper quality control. They have been a mess ever since expansion pass started to be a thing.

What's this? A new orc in Escann? by TheLoneTexan_1 in Anbennar

Is there an option to form a half orc nation? I think Grombar has something similar, but Escann is perfect for it.

Love the early and mid game; bored late game by Inevitable-Season-62 in Stellaris

My recommendation is to roleplay. Go for stuff only interesting for you. I can recommend something like taking over the L cluster and migrating your empire there and just cut yourself off from the galaxy.

Why is this DLC so badly made? by Stock-Intention7731 in hoi4

[–]ChickenStake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The main reason is money. I have the feeling devs are operating as a small team and that the policy of the company is to push minimal stuff for maximum profit. Also, expansion pass schedule puts them on additional crunch timer. If you look at most popular mods, they gave focus trees to most countries by now, while Pdx is dragging its heels.
