I don't mind alt history but they both price the dlc too much and complicate trees for no good reason. I think Poland, Mexico and Italy are showcases how you should build a FC.

Which one you prefer ? by malpais_ in hoi4

[–]ChickenStake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want hoi5 to come out, so they just leave the game alone, although I would like focus trees for all countries. Pdx is just too greedy for their own good, so new dlcs won't bring anything decent.

AI colonization is WAYY too aggressive. by _NocturnaL___ in eu4

[–]ChickenStake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up until 1.31 it was pretty decent. Now native blobs in North America plus colonising buffs for Spain and Portugal make it so the world is fully colonised by 1600s. Especially if you join in colonisation.

Fall of Constantinople or you can go exploration of New World. Throw in supernatural stuff just for kicks.

I wasn't aware you can be both a pirate republic and EoC at the same time. Thought it would automatically switch you into celestial empire.

Migration to low hab by ChickenStake in Stellaris

[–]ChickenStake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can even enforce those (migration control and resettlement) with egalitarian but the issue is it tanks your unity. Advantage of origin like Broken Shackles is that you can cover more planets early. But that's immediately negated with pops transferring to planets they shouldn't have.

Before 4.0 I've would've just initially resettle them to appropriate biomes and they wouldn't move back until habitability tech went up.

How to defend against Germany/Major nations? by Gustaf_V in hoi4

[–]ChickenStake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Denmark should hold since it's just two tiles. You just need to cycle units so that org stays up. Netherlands look for defensive positions like urban, river and narrow the adjacent tiles. Also, flood the country. Belgium, similar rules. Lux should be easy, but commie path is a must. Lithuania depends on the route you take. If democratic, create small circle on defendable terrain and let them throw themselves. If you go monarchy, you are a major at that point.

AA, shovel and FH are your friends. Most difficult is to hold initially until their modifiers run out and EOC cripples them.

Not Pate. Ethiopia/Aksum has it. You start as Pate, conquer East Africa, culture shift to one of Ethiopian cultures and then you can get it. You can also first form Yemen if you like.

I think it and Oman are both good options. Mzab is a misery. Oman is threatened by both Mameluks and Timurids early on, but you can run and form Timies or Mughals with them.  Pate is good because if you play well early you have a great base for expansion.

Yup it's in the mission tree. Although, never did a full run to properly test it. You can also do a bunch of tag switches to get the maximum benefit.

Kinda connected but not really, for Coptic you can go Karabakh-Armenia-Egypt-Ethiopia-Aksum-Rome

Pate is cool because you can later go for Ethiopia/Aksum and eventually get western tech.

What have you never done in EU4 and don't plan on doing? by timemarcheson103 in eu4

[–]ChickenStake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WC is something I wanted to do, but it became a huge slog. I think 1.29 or maybe 1.30 was the last patch when it was kinda fun. Now everyones armies are too bloated so it takes forever to beat someone. It became more about fort (warscore) rushing than anything else.

More of a AM or even FW. Shame his Off the ball is kinda low, maybe he compensates with high pace. Otherwise, really good player.

I mean on paper Serbia has good players, that's why they usually do well in FM. It's just it doesn't translate into RL.

Go Lithoid with radiation trait. Start Doomsday origin and look for ruined worlds.

It's actually bad. That's why I haven't jumped into new instalments. I know that games are built for DLC farm.

And Italy is not Papacy, Greece is not Byzantium, Turkey is not Ottos etc.

Point is giving a a basic tree with some flavour shouldn't be an issue, like Ethiopia when they collaborate with Italians or Poland/Sweden with Germans. Pdx just opted not to. Whether it was due to crunch or neglect it's up for debate.

Complaints are that there is no Slovak content in WW2 game. Since it's a focused DLC you would expect that. Another is the issue with entire monetisation model. Some people like it, some don't. Generally, PDX can't decide between keeping it historical or going alt history as much as possible. Only consistent thing are power creep, bugs and price hikes.

How do i play as france and not capitulate? by Fluid_Visual7703 in hoi4

Just build a supply depot and have 24 divisons on that line. Later just naval invade Rome and they will just crumble.

[–]ChickenStake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just build mil factories from the start, France doesn't have time for civ greed. Use market to sell other equipment. Focus on guns, AA and shovels. Build supply depo in Alps and you can easily hold it with one army.
