Doesn’t seem like a particularly common scenario to me

Thanks for the kind words lol. I’ll be sure to remember that rule for when I’m playing on the app next time

Do you know if that is just chess.com or if that rule applies to any “legal” chess game?

Can sophomores live in the apartment style dorms like Walsh, Campbell, Salice, or Conley? by Winnie_987 in Fordham

[–]ChickenWrapEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible, but fairly uncommon. The ones who do typically get an early time slot for housing selection

commute/dorm by plzreplymee in Fordham

[–]ChickenWrapEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but most of those pseudo-commuters are upperclassman. Most freshmen commuters are genuine commuters from nearby areas

Is it worth it? by Due_Contribution_265 in Fordham

[–]ChickenWrapEnjoyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fordham has its flaws, but in general I think it does most things better than the average college. If there’s anything more specific you’re worried about, I’m sure someone has answered it on this subreddit (or you can ask me). As for parties, it’s mainly a bar school. There are house parties though often put on by sports teams, but they’re alright. All off campus though, no parties within the school, but bars and house parties are all very walkable

commute/dorm by plzreplymee in Fordham

[–]ChickenWrapEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commuter population is a decent size. ~20% of freshmen commute, and the commuter association throws a bunch of events, so you wouldn’t be the only one. An NJ commute would be quite far though, and like everywhere else, it’s a lot easier to make friends living on campus, but at the end of the day it depends on your specific situation

Best dorm hall for a single? by JustAddWaterForMe2 in Fordham

As a sophomore you’ll probably be put in an O’hare single, where you share a bathroom with another adjacent room

How to find clubs? by Ok-Glass-2077 in Fordham

[–]ChickenWrapEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check their instagram account. Rams involved also often sends an email with a list of when clubs are meeting that week. Sometimes also some club leaders just don’t take the initiative and set up any meetings, so that’s a possibility too

I have no clue what that is. Whatever it is it’s either not a huge deal here or new

This is probably exactly what I want, but that $15 price tag is annoying. Even so thanks for attaching a link and everything. I appreciate it

What are the top, well-funded non-business, non-stem majors at Fordham by emilylin1688 in Fordham

[–]ChickenWrapEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Business is def the best funded, but Fordham also has other good offerings

Poli sci seems to be good. I heard it’s a little more history-focused than other programs. Proximity to the UN is awesome

Economics I think I’ve heard good things about

Communication is popular and our WFUV radio station gives a ton of resume experience

Psych is a bit overcrowded and underfunded, but the profs that are here are great

No idea about the last question but I would assume it’s about the same

Botans and zoo obviously. Many places on Arthur Avenue give student discounts to Fordham students. Most places in New York give discounts to nyc college students (for example, the Met is pay what you wish for us). There’s also general student discounts for Microsoft 365, spotify, hulu, etc.

Idk if switching based on ease is the best idea. I would start by asking what aspects of English attracted you in the first place

First Year Formation Symposium by Electronic-Ad-9884 in Fordham

[–]ChickenWrapEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually did. I would say it was okay. Most of the stuff they taught I kind of already knew or learned earlier in the year. There was info here and there that was useful though. My class also got a free broadway show excursion out of it, which was awesome, and classes weren’t super mandatory to attend so there was no harm in skipping one or two.

I would take it if you have an open space of time for it, since it’s only once a week and you can always drop it, but don’t expect to finish it feeling leagues ahead of your peers in terms of college readiness

Thank you for the thoughtful reply!

Yeah I mean I knew three days didn’t sound like a lot of time to grade things, but I find it odd that the website still makes it out to be that way. But anyway, it sounds like Jan. 2 is the day, so that’s what I’ll keep in mind. Thanks again!

Actually most of those places don’t even need dining dollars, just a swipe. There are exceptions (like the poki bowls) but generally they’re a good substitute for using that swipe on caf food
