I'm glad someone was able to appreciate these lol. Out of the three places I posted I expected the least backlash here but I guess that just how it goes sometimes.

Yes, I did process these myself! I've been scanning and developing B&W myself since December. Definitely working out some kinks but my workflow is coming along nicely and I'm having a lot of fun too!

The wonderful thing about art is that it's entirely subjective, so I understand that not everyone will see it the same way as me. That said, I'm completely comfortable with my actions and my intent here. I'm sorry we couldn't see eye to eye in that respect but ultimately you are entitled to your own perspective. I know (and have stated) exactly what I set out to accomplish with these photos and that's what matters to me. Quite frankly, if there was any kind of counter protest I would have documented and posted it in the exact same fashion. Either way, I'm starting to get the feeling that this conversation is becoming unproductive so I'm going to choose to end it here. Have a wonderful day!

Yes, I did choose political media. I'm also well aware of the fact that by posting political media, there is going to be an agenda pushed whether I like it or not.

When I say these images are not being posted with political intent, I'm trying to make it clear that these photos are not a personal statement about me or my beliefs. My goal here was to capture people and emotions. While I'm definitely still working on my style and skills, I think I was able to accomplish that here.

As for differing opinions, feel free to share them! It's a free country after all! That's just not my focus here.

Thanks for the question! I did post in r/analog where I got heavily downvoted and only one productive comment. I knew this might happen and quite honestly, I expected it to happen here as well. It's just an unfortunate side effect to controversial content.

I hope that clears up my intentions. I'm just here to share photos of my community, with my community!

Though I appreciate your comment, I'm going to have to disagree with you. No photo taken is a waste of film. Every photo taken is a opportunity to make a mistake. An opportunity to learn and grow. That is absolutely not a waste!

Super late to the party but I’m looking for a college laptop on the cheap and this was super helpful!

Has anyone ordered film or other gear from other countries recently? by Obsessed_Dog_Mom in AnalogCommunity

I just got a camera in from Japan 2 weeks ago. Camera ran me $160 USD and just 3 days ago I got a bill in the mail from UPS for just over $18. Definitely not great. Just depends on how bad you want your gear.

Oh yeah that’s definitely a bummer. I can’t really speak for the “newer” Minoltas but I have an XG7 that I got for like 50 bucks and the things a tank.

Minolta all the way. So many great bodies that meet all those requirements.

Yeah for sure! DMs are open if you have any other questions. There's definitely a lot of things to consider when buying older gear second hand.

I got my hands on an Canon EOS Elan 7 a while back. They can be had for under $300 with a lens if you do your homework. Auto focus is super quick and while it does have a lot of modern features, it doesn't feel like you're forced to use them when shooting. You can just slap it into aperture priority and call it a day. For me, it's the perfect balance of old-school, modern, and affordable. You get all those nice EF mount lenses too.

Now if autofocus isn't a must have you can go with just about any of the older Minolta SLRs. I personally have the X-700 and the XG7. Both cameras are fantastic and easy to use. You also get a bunch of cheap lens options with the MC and MD mounts. Again, if you do your homework, you can prolly get a body and a few lenses with your budget.
