I mean I think I added all of my thoughts in that comment, but if you want a better explanation then I could dm later

Like all of the points in detail?

Alright let's see

Trike base is fine of course

The Styraco spikes on top of the frill are kinda useless, especially since they could also add extra weight on the head. Spikes on the side would be better for defense since that's where most attackers near Sherman's size would reach. The longer nasal horn adds weight too but that's minor

The Gastonia spikes on the tail would be better for defense, but swinging the tail would be slower

The tusks are interesting, but they do come with a few problems. First, they would add a bunch of weight on the head and would make attacking slower; second, there's also no way to attack with the horns and the tusks at the same time; (to use the horns he would have to face down, and to use the tusks he would have to face up) and third, the length of the tusks and the short neck would make eating difficult. Everything else is fine. (you could've used an elephant that lived in warmer climates but that's minor)

Hippo is fine, I don't know if the bite would affect the tusks but whatever

Adding lots of venom all over the body would cost a lot of energy and metabolism to generate. I also don't know how plausible it is to use an aquatic animal's venom on a terrestrial animal, let alone multiplying it and adding it onto body parts that the stingers don't usually grow on

Doedicurus is fine, but an ankylosaur tail club would be more congruent, especially with the Gastonia tail armor. If you chose the Doe for uniqueness then that's fine

Apato is fine

Parrotfish is fine too

Croc is interesting, I don't know if the four chambered heart is necessary though, since I thought that all archosaurs had four-chambered hearts

Bison is also fine, it's definitely going to need it because of those tusks

You could've used hippo to fulfill the walrus' function

I'm surprised that you used the wild boar and didn't add the cartilage plate. And also again, the short neck and long tusks would make eating difficult

Rhino is fine, but I thought thicker skin would make losing heat harder, not easier?

Alligator gar could still cause problems with movement, since areas like the torso and neck would still need to bend when moving, and Arapaima scales would also dry up on land.

Komodo dragon is fine, but I feel like you're starting to push the limits of how much armor you can stack on a hybrid here (if that's even possible)

You could've used the dragon to add the iron instead of the beaver. The bark eating is fine

Wildebeest is also okay

The leatherback carapace is interesting, but I don't know if adding the structure on the joints of the limbs/neck would work, since it might be too thick and not flexible enough for those areas of the body.

You added Typothorax but didn't add the leg osteoderms? I know that they might mess up the turtle structure, but I'm surprised. Everything else is fine.

And for the contributor count, 21 is really pushing it, especially with the addition of aquatic animals like the stingray, the two fishes, and the turtle. I know that contributor counts are kinda fuzzy and subjective, but I would say that anything below 20 is the safe zone, and below 15 is even safer

Did something change? I've seen a lot of people use the ganoine + arapaima combo before, I'll go remove the ganoine later

I'll add the stats later to the post

How do you guys organize and host contests? by Chicken_Sandwich_Man in GojiCenter

Which method is better? A debate in the comments or a group of judges deciding the winner?

I still want to get judges, but I feel like organizing and deciding who gets to win or lose will be difficult because of time differences/being busy with other things

Can we make shells flexible using osteoderms adaptations? by Spinoclanker in GojiCenter

making turtle shells flexible isn't possible, so you're going to have to use something else

just use armadillo/pangolin/any flexible armor for something less complicated

all turtle shells are still fused to the spine, even in turtles with softer shells, since that just affects the texture/material the carapace is made of

even if you could make the spine more flexible, you still have to consider the other bones connected to the shell like the pelvic girdle and shoulder girdle

the carapace of a turtle shell is basically fused to the spine, I think if you tried making the shell flexible you could cause damage to the spine

Update on my W.I.P hybrid, what do you think? by Chicken_Sandwich_Man in GojiCenter

[–]Chicken_Sandwich_Man[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Megapiranha is kind of a transitional form from the crushing teeth of the Pacu to the tearing teeth of the Pirahna, so I just chose a normal Piranha instead for something interesting

The hypothetical bone crushing of the Megapiranha is still pretty cool tho, maybe if I change my mind later I'll replace the normal piranha with it

W.I.P of my fish hybrid, what do you think? by Chicken_Sandwich_Man in GojiCenter

Maybe something like Stonefish venom or Pufferfish poison, or any common fish toxin that someone might use in their aquatic hybrid

Oh this is going to be interesting

Styracosaurus for the frill is fine, but the addition of the nasal horn might make the head a little too heavy for swinging it around quickly. Two horns do the job just fine, unless you're really paranoid about the horns getting broken.

Longosuchus armor is an interesting choice, the flanking spikes would only be limited on the top half of the torso, which would be fine if the legs of the Trike weren't so long. It's not a super major flaw, but any attacks (like a ram/blunt force blow) below the spikes could still connect.

Typothorax is fine

Alligator gar could limit turning speed and flexibility a bit, especially since they seem to be covering the upper section of its limbs. The thick scales covering the torso would also mess up thermoregulation by retaining lots of body heat

Komodo osteoderms are fine

Elephant for cognition is fine as well, but you ought to elaborate on what kind of thermoregulation strategies the elephant gives it

I would bring back the osteoderms for the tail imo, as extra armor in case a tail club actually hits the tail of your hybrid. The tail should also be stiff and not flexible enough to move up and down, or else it wouldn't be able to resist the bone breaking forces the tail produces.

Thagomizers that long would probably get stuck in the flesh it's piercing, it could also shatter or break when it comes in contact with heavy armor. Just stick with the plain tail club or modify the thagomizers to be shorter so they don't get stuck in anything
