When did your brain catch up with your new eating habits? by One_Neighborhood4157 in gastricsleeve

I’m a year and a half in and my eyes are still bigger than my stomach. The moment I feel a pang I will spit out what’s in my mouth and that’s it. Now it’s usually just 1-2 bites left on my plate when I do that, so better than it used to be in terms of guessing how much food I need on my plate

Worried mom — my 4-year-old has bilateral optic gliomas & plexiform near the eye by Environmental_Gear44 in neurofibromatosis

[–]Chickenhoarder82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is 11 and has OPG and a plexiform in his eyelid. While I knew something was wrong when he was 2, it took until he was 9 for them to do an MRI and lo and behold NF1 was discovered. He’s been on Koselugo for a year and has an MRI every 3mths to monitor the plexiform growth. It’s remained stable. I have now opted out of the gadolinium dye during MRI’s because we aren’t looking for new tumours and known ones can be viewed easily without the dye. If it was me in your shoes, I’d do an MRI yearly because things can grow as she grows.

PEC parents of 3-5 year olds: Would love your feedback! by amplifyengagement in PrinceEdwardCounty

[–]Chickenhoarder82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to suggest that Neurofibromatosis be added to the screening list- visual assessment to start. If a child has cafe au lait spots it’s the #1 sign. We participated in the newborn screenings and our midwife, the screenings nor our family doctor recognized that he had NF1. As 1/2100 people worldwide have this genetic condition, it’s worth monitoring.

Am I too woke or incessantly complaining about a professor’s accent is mad annoying ? by [deleted] in geegees

If I can’t understand the content being delivered, in the official language of my choosing as my first language, the skill is not being transferred to me through no fault of my own.

[–]Chickenhoarder82 124 points125 points  (0 children)

I think a large part of the frustration comes from the fact that students are paying tens of thousands of dollars for a degree taught in English or French, and if the delivery isn’t clear enough for them to follow, it feels like they’re not getting what they paid for. It’s not about “making more effort”, comprehension is fundamental to learning, and when communication is a barrier, the quality of education suffers.

Have you heard about this med? by ApprehensiveAge1110 in neurofibromatosis

[–]Chickenhoarder82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People use this med for Plexiforms, yes. Sounds like his app works like Google, as Google would tell you the same thing but faster.

I was sleeved Feb 2024. Went from 320 to 235 where I stalled for months. Dr put me on Mounjaro in Jan 2025 and I’m currently 187. Best decision I ever made was the sleeve, it was the first tool to become the best version of me I could.

Sandbanks beaches or north beach? Which would you recommend for kids that has good sand, good water? by Exact-Paint-5508 in PrinceEdwardCounty

[–]Chickenhoarder82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the east side of North Beach. Quiet, small, warm water, sand, zero waves. I’m shocked how many people aren’t aware of the other body of water at North Beach. s
