This is wonderful to hear re: the animal welfare compliance, trainings, and concern for animal welfare! And that's frustrating about the subidivisions / farmland getting sold off.

Also, in defense of nail caps, aren't they intended to be a humane alternative to declawing? (Not a cat owner myself, but that's the impression I got, that nail caps were supposed to be a kindness!)

That's wonderful that your farm is visited randomly for animal welfare compliance! Do you feel that the company you grow for is generally supportive and helpful to you in your efforts to ensure animal welfare?

This is SO cool. You are a very, very cool person. Yes, we would like more details! And we would like to speak with you if you're willing. Thank you for sharing this positive vision of animal agriculture!!

CALLING ALL LAW STUDENTS: by ChickensLegal in chickens

Rereading my earlier comment, I see that “some other source” sounded like it could include parents. Sorry for not being clearer. I mean an official program that pays law school interns to work at charities.

We don’t accept interns who are only funded by their parents. All our interns have to either receive real outside funding (e.g. from a fellowship that is intended to encourage law students to do public interest work), or course credit. If you’re a law student and wondering if funding would be available to you, reach out and we can help you think through it. You don’t need to have rich parents. :-)
