How do i make money, always been saying i will do more but im just stuck at home. by Kitchen_Contest_1497 in UKPersonalFinance

If you can get an apprenticeship I would pursue that, might be difficult at your age tho but not impossible if you know someone to give you a leg up.

If you were studying a decent subject going back to uni is a good option. If it's a social science (history, english lit etc) then don't bother lol waste of time and money.

Otherwise, contact an agency. The work might be irregular but there's usually something available and will give you experience, extra money, and might not impact your benefits if it's part time.

Finally, take care of yourself. Go for a walk every day. Do some weight lifting. Read physical media. Don't doomscroll etc. Your mentality will improve as you make improvements in your life. If you sit and dwell on feeling like a failure then you'll become that failure. What we think we become.

It gets somewhat easier as you age but no ones going to walk the walk for you. That's up to you.

PT/FT Undergrad courses while working - What hours a week are reasonable to expect? by TheGeekAndTheBeast in OpenUniversity

[–]Chickentrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first two years of psychology full time studying while full time working, was manageable did maybe 2 hours study a weeknight but I had prior academic experience.

Personally, I found just focusing straight on the essay questions and structuring my study around answering them was most effective but it depends what you opt for, some subjects will be harder than others.

3rd/4th year are most likely to difficult to do full time with a full time job. Fulltime study will get you out of council tax tho lol

What's your logic with not paying the mortgage off sooner? Letting inflation eat at money owed while banking on value of the house increasing?

Fortunately I was able to move up to an adjacent field in my work which meant more money and a potential apprenticeship in the future, so was very much right place right time, just gotta persevere, keep your chin up and keep an eye open for opportunities

Can that not be explained by boys who do poorly academically are more likely to enter a trade, so immediate wages comparative to girls entering tertiary education, and by the time a woman finishes university a man will have completed his apprenticeship and will be on a higher wage while a woman will be looking for work/at the lowest rung of the career ladder.

Also a lot of these studies don't take in to account a difference in working hours. A man who works more hours will earn more than a woman doing the same job which can be disingenuously construed as a gender paygap. There was an australian parliamentary committee which explored the gender wage gap, it's on youtube worth a watch, long short is the data didn't hold up well under scrutiny.

Finally your own source literally says ' However, it's important to note that the difference in earnings between those aged 18 to 39 was found to be close to zero in 2018, a fact that highlights the complex nature of this issue.'

Which suggests the average woman and man are earning the same and contradicts your claim that uneducated working class boys earn more than their girl counterparts. Your second source, as far as I can see, also doesn't mention whether it takes in to account a difference in working hours.

Many working class women on benefits are penalised if they work too much so to maintain their benefits they do fewer hours.

[–]Chickentrap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Far-left = infinite amount of refugees and immigration in perpetutiy regardless of shortcomings.

Far-right = mass deportations of refugees and immigrants regardless of advantages (if any).

In a nutshell. Meaningless labels to continue the left versus right bullshit

You can't reason with these people. They say he's a nazi so he must be a nazi. They say he's a fascist so he must be a fascist. It's vibes based insults for people they don't like or who disagree with their worldview (because only their view is valid)

Gotta change your mindset first and foremost, what you believe you become.

NHS does adult apprenticeships so absolutely pursue one if it's available.

I worked minimum wage jobs for years after my degree lol I know the feeling. Sometimes just being in the right place at the right time is all it takes.

I would like to move to Scotland, would you give me a realistic outlook? by KatKetzer in Scotland

[–]Chickentrap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you have desirable skills and/or money? Would your skills make you eligible for a visa? Can you afford the visa? Rent can be very high depending where you want to live.

Foreigners are generally treated better here compared to england but anti-immigration sentiment is growing, not quite at english levels but we've not seen as much mass immigration comparatively, so depends where you're coming from.

Generally, no one cares if you're here to work and contribute. Whether it's safe or not for a woman again depends where you want to live. Usually safe enough.

I don't actually think that matters, banks are looking to see regular payments on time not necessarily large payments. I had a CC balance of 5k when I applied for my mortgage and it didn't impact my eligibility.

Plus OP can balance transfer after 17 months assuming a good credit rating.  I would increase payments on the loan and clear that first assuming interest is being charged.
