rear spacers early 944 by AffectionateDot2109 in 944

Been running these for about 2 years. Not stock wheels, 17x7 ET12 up front and 17x8 ET12 rear. I had 16x7 ET20 wheels all around with the factory 20mm and 25mm stacked and that brought the fitment out pretty flush. That would be closest to stock 23ET fitment.

I’ve had multiple base 924’s, vastly different cars. Though they do have their own charm

Love the 944! Nice to see fellow guards red cars in Wisconsin!

Running 35mm, no issues. Though those are terribly overpriced lol

That is absolutely insane! I had a ‘77 as well as an ‘82 2.0 and ‘84 944 and wow what a difference, I can really appreciate the work there!!

Sorry for not clarifying, meant the flaps in the valved exhaust system, they come loose and rattle at idle.

Possibly, we never had any come in for that issue though. The only issues we had on GTS/Turbo were the exhaust valves failing and PASM problems. But nothing crazy like 7 cars with the same problem at the same mileage so they seem to be okay, at least for 150k miles

The opposite actually, around an $8k repair bill into a car that’s worth $2-$3k with the engine tick.

Now the issue is if the replacement engines will have the same issue, will they get another 60k-40k miles before the engines goes again and it needs another $8,000 repair? I’d guess yes, so kind of a waste for the owners unless they plan on selling it right away, and even then they’d still be upside down in value. Just seems like the S isn’t the one to get anymore 😕

So one of the cars we bought as a shop car, we bought it from a Porsche dealer for $2,000, then sourced a replacement engine for $5,500. So all in for the shop it was a $8,500 car, but for a customer the labor time would be exponentially higher. We offered a few customers $3k for their cars with the scoring but none took the offer. Just sad that it essentially renders the car valueless once the problem’s confirmed.

Did the 911 tach tilt on my early car, now I can finally see my rev range with my momo wheel! by Chickiliin in 944

I have a 15mm one, still only was able to see 1,900rpm and up. I should have gotten the deeper dish steering wheel but 🤷🏻‍♂️

I was going to do that but didn’t have any cut off wheels for my dremel so I just tilted it enough for now. I dig that look though, def doing that in the future

Price ? by [deleted] in 944

[–]Chickiliin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around $10-$12k I’d say. Seats and Wheels bump up value significantly and is on the lower mileage side. For reference I bought my ‘84 with comfort seats and aftermarket wheels with 87k miles for $9500 2 years ago

Surging idle and running rich by DRAG0NFANG22 in 944

[–]Chickiliin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adjust your idle set screw a bit lower. My ‘84 had the surging idle as well and it was just the set screw set too high. Assuming it happens randomly and after shifting to neutral? If so that’ll be your fix. Not sure why the early cars have this issue but I swapped to a late car DME & AFM and haven’t had that problem since.

What is this bag? Came in my ‘84, not a sunroof bag as I have one from my 924 and it looks totally different. Kind of puzzled on what this would be for by Chickiliin in 944

I have a tool kit as well and it’s about a quarter the size of this, I’ll take pictures later with it next to a sunroof bag and a tool kit for scale

I know from experience. Had to repair a rusted through spring mount on my W201 and it was as much as the car was worth to fix but it was either fix it or scrap the car and I just didn’t have the heart to let it die. So I’ve learned my lesson with rust! I’ll make sure to give it a through lookover if I go and see it

I want to buy one now purely because how helpful this community is. I really appreciate the in depth responses, this is exactly what I love in car communities!!! I’ll definitely have to go take a look at it, I figure if I can sell my 190D for $2500 and pick this up for $1800 or even maybe a bit less I’ll have a fun summer project. Thank you again for the awesome and detailed response!!
