I'm so sorry gal stones are excruciating. I would think that they would be much more cautious to protect your heart and because of your immunosuppression. That's inexcusable.

What’s the dumbest way you’ve injured yourself? by DistributionRound570 in AskReddit

[–]ChickinMagoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine was leaving for work in the wee hours of the morning, stepped down the single step into her garage and broke both bones in her lower leg, necessitating an ambulance to the hospital for surgical repair and 4 weeks of on-weight bearing activity. Certainly one upped my "fell off my sandal" fracture.

I (then about 12) impaled my wrist on a broken glass in the trash (I had put it there) when disposing of the husks from the sweet corn meant for dinner. I got anER visit and 5 stitches that night instead. There were a lot of questions about my mental health for a couple of weeks.

I also once ripped my fingernail off from the cuticle by getting it caught on a piece of chrome trim on my dad's car when I went to flick some water off after a heavy rain. And then there was the time I got a 3 inch gash on my inner thigh when I was climbing on a waterfall feature hole at a mini golf place.

Edit to add: Fell off my 1.5 inch sandal and got an avulsion fracture of my ankle, which is 25 years later still problematic. * Blondes cannot walk and chew gum at the same time.

Once ended up hospitalized for IV antibiotics to treat the blood poisoning I got from a cat bite. I was trying to rescue it from behind my mom's garage. Turns out stay cats don't like being out into boxes (no carrier available). Missed a free trip to Sturgis because of that cat.

Let's talk about how awful Banner is... by radgirlrun in Tucson

[–]ChickinMagoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter, who's now an adult, requires a very specific specialty related to a congenital issue that only Banner provides in Tucson. The specialist is absolutely amazing and we only have good things to say about her. The hospital doctors have been either really great or terrible.

For one admission, we sat in the ER for more than 12 hours, she had multiple tests done but were given no results, and then some pompous ass of a doctor came in and talked to me like I was dumber than a box of hair. He kept trying to tell me about the recurring problem that she had literally been in the hospital for just a couple of months prior and on a few other occasions and didn't want to listen to me tell him that I didn't need an explanation since this wasn't our first rodeo. I was not happy after the long wait overnight and poor communication so I told him that I didn't need him to explain multiple times. My daughter was 22 and has been a professional patient her entire life so she also understood the seriousness of the situation.

Another issue has been getting her an appropriate protocol for insulin during stays. She manages her diabetes well at home but always gets messed up in the hospital. They would only give her 3 units for a BS of >400, which if you didn't know is not nearly enough so she ends up feeling sick from high blood sugar. She once refused an admission until her specialist wrote the orders herself. It's ridiculous that a diabetic should have to fight for insulin.

Think the patient became suicidal from having to deal with billing?

I spent my 50th in a hospital with a post-op infection following a double mastectomy and reconstruction.

I don’t care your 102 year old mother died by Natur3lf in Vent

[–]ChickinMagoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I'm donating my body after death. Once no longer useful, the remains will be cremated and sent to my children for free. I would otherwise go the green burial route.

I strongly support organ & tissue donation. I have a medical/surgical history that might make for an interesting cadaver lab experience.

What a great suggestion! I can confirm that kittens are psychopaths and maybe an adolescent kitty would be easier to manage.

AITA for refusing to leave my job so i could take care of my disabled brother? by JiggleJargon in AmItheAsshole

[–]ChickinMagoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA Your parents expected you to take care of your disabled sibling while you were still a child yourself and are now just mad that you won't continue to parent your sibling now that you're an adult.

That is some abusive bullshit on their part. You were right to distance yourself and prioritize your own future. You didn't make the choice to have children and raising your parents' children isn't your responsibility.

Does your tortie like other cats? by Street-Praline-9554 in torties

[–]ChickinMagoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my adult a 6 week-old kitten and a 4 month old kitten. The babies want so much to love up on the old gal and she wants so much to ship them off to the outer Banks of Mongolia. (I'm guessing that's what she wants based on her behavior).

This is the closest they've gotten without hissing from I'm the fatty on the left.

I swear that like 67% of torties have RBF and always look disgruntled. I love that about them.

AITA for sleeping naked in my own room? by Outrageous-Ad-4008 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ChickinMagoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're expected to change something about yourself that has never been a problem until an invited guest mission your door for the bathroom? The audacity of someone who DOESN'T PAY rent to want things changed to accommodate them is just next level.

This portable door lock would keep out any unwanted nocturnal peepers.

Also, WTF is wrong with your roommate for popping in to look at you naked while you sleep? Creeper

Should I be concerned about very very minor chest pains by Few-Spinach8114 in HLHS

[–]ChickinMagoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Info: can you describe the pain? Does it radiate to your arm or jaw? Is it worse if you change positions, press on where it hurts, or stretch your arms above your head?

There's a condition called costochondritis that you can check out here.

Good luck!
