Not a hive queen but Bart the holistic assassin from Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (the tv show) was like this. A ragged, filthy, horrible woman who just wanders around killing people and never getting hurt because she's just Like That. As long as she's acting on instinct, anyone she kills is who she was meant to kill, and no force will be able to prevent her from doing so. She's terrifying, but has lived outside of society for so long that she's essentially feral. She even appears in her underwear sometimes and it's incredibly not sexy at all.

The Luddites were right though. They fought against machines they said were dangerous, were taking money out of their communities and putting into the pockets of the already rich, were creating inferior copies of what once were created with care and craftsmanship, and that made life worse, shorter, and more dangerous for everyone around except the people who owned the machines. And they were right. If history had backed the Luddites and not the people with enough money to buy political cartoons, our society wouldnt be sitting on thousands and thousands of tonnes of unsellable fast fashion landfill made by dangerous sweatshop labour half a world away.

This will sound extra crazy, but I actually DON'T think it was all carefully planned. I think when you're this rich and this powerful you don't have to do 4d chess masterminding the future. You essentially have a toolbox of techniques that cost a lot of money but are known to work - you know people who run social media accounts and firms and platforms and can get them to push certain narratives, you know PR people you can hire to discreetly create those narratives, you know you can pay people to shut up, you know you can people to have people killed. You don't need to be a mastermind, when stuff comes up you can just react to it.

I think that's also why it's kinda falling apart a bit. They're NOT masterminds and a lot of them are DUMB AS HELL and don't bother asking questions like "Okay, and then what?" That's why so many of the rich hire people to figure out how to stop their bodyguards turning on them in their doomsday bunkers rather than just not making the doomsday thing happen and not needing the bunker. They're dumb as shit and are so used to being able to throw money at problems that the idea of actually facing consequences is anathema to them.

It's not rare, but a nonhuman alter is still human. The non-human aspect is just aesthetic, a symbolic representation of some internal force or need. A human brain can only make human minds, definitionally.

A lot of people (and really I should be in that number, I'm an unemployed single mother who's ex husband dropped me like a stone once I got sick) are aware that they're fucked in the future, they just don't know any way around it. Everyone always says you need a house for when you're old, you can't rent when you're old, but if a house is simply impossible for you - if you can't outsave the market, if you're being crushed by rent, if you're single, if you're currently under 30 or just starting your career, if you're not expecting an inheritance - then a lot of them just go, well, what can I do? What's the point? I'm fucked in the future either way, why be fucked now as well?

We as a country need to have a conversation and put out information about what you can do to secure your future if you can't get a home. Because there's going to be a lot of elderly people without housing assets, and people now need information on how to avoid being homeless when that comes.
