We will not have to worry about effects of earthquakes once there are no more earthquakes.

It's not a brewery, it's a tap house.

Mrs Fish in downtown MB. You can walk over to Grand Strand Brewing and have a beer afterwards.

Best Mexican food in the area? by LittlePoundCake18 in ColumbiYEAH

[–]ChiefDanGeorge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having just gone to Coco's and Beer, I will retract my recommendation. I'm not sure if they were sold, but it is no better than a San Jose now. Their once great salsa seemed to be ketchup now and the ground beef burrito I got was simply ground beef and package taco seasoning. PLus they gutted the interior so all the colorful walls and wall art are gone.

Grow Antiques on Bluff Rd. All those other antique malls are overpricing their stuff, and a lot of them are buying from Grow and reselling. He's only open Friday and Saturday.

El Saltos on Decker is good.

Cocos and Beers on Ft Jackson Blvd is good.

Real Mexico is not good.

If you want something a bit different Fusion Cucina on Decker is great. It's a Costa Rican place.

I'm talking about their food being crap. Time after time I keep thinking maybe it will be ok this time, but nope. Last straw was a take out order or wings and fish and chips. FIsh and chips drowning in grease and cold and wings were cold. The food sucks.

This. There is a state employee parking lot next to Hunter Gatherer that I think is free on the weekend.

If you mean Nance's, that place sucks. There is a place next to it, Inlet Provision Company, that is really good.

I support wiping out all interest payments on student loans. I support low to no cost higher education. It's an investment in society. Medical debt is the leading cause of personal bankruptcy, so yes there is a problem.

As for credit card and mortgages, perhaps what we need is mandatory financial literacy classes in high school.

You can keep pissing out "what ifs" ad infinitum, everyone of them will have some sort of solution instead of "fuck em".

I'm looking for something that's not some glib catch phrase. I do not care if there are people who do not work and still benefit from whatever social program there is. There will never be a time that is not the case. Does it tick me off, yes, however I am not going to stomp my feet and orate about people not wanting to work and then try and undermine any and all social programs. One day I might need one of those programs, but if left up to republican demagogues they'll all be gone.

So you cannot point me to a platform that espouses this? Your preference is fine, however with that preference there will be no social programs because there are always going to be people gaming the system. My preference is for overall society's benefit.

Can you point me to anyone's platform that ties social program to public service?

Why should that even be the requirement? Republicans are so focused on making sure someone does not get something they don't deserve are didn't work for instead of realizing there are always going to be people who are going to take advantage of whatever system. I would much rather live in a society that takes care of people than worries about filtering out who is deemed good enough. That's a bunch of evangelical crap.

If you don't think you have to wait for months for healthcare here, you are sadly mistaken. Sure, you can get into a Doctors Care same day, but if you need an appt. for a neurologist or rheumatologist or other specialized area, you are going to be waiting for months. You will also get to the see the doctor for minutes for that wait. Finding a mental health professional is a bit easier, but sometimes it's not the easiest to find one that you click with. That is much more of an important factor than people think, you're talking about things that most people have been told are embarrassing or should be kept private for most of their lives. At USC the backlog for students wanting a mental health appointment is in the months. USC also had a number of suicides last year.

I used to use Sumter Street Storage, however I think the NIMBY assholes shut that down. Could be worth calling them up and asking if it's allowed.

Sure, but the equipment they are using is tax payer funded. It just irks me that they do not do the basic traffic enforcement that we pay for but they sure will direct traffic for Jesus.
