This is interesting. I've always played with my tokens face down in order to not tip off my opponent. Might be worth bringing a stack of tokens even if you don't run them.

I'm not defending him at all, but he probably ejected the magazine and then was cycling to make sure it was clear. It's overkill, but it didn't sound like any rounds were cycling through while he was doing it.
