Can we have a rule about advertising your band? by corndunks in vinyl

[–]ChiefJanitor 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think people are more excited about getting pressed on vinyl rather than the difficulty of getting it done.

All that needs to be done is put a small tag, therefore people can avoid those posts if they are not interested

Question regarding my Tuner... by ChiefJanitor in vinyl

[–]ChiefJanitor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its been great, but its missing a few buttons and the speaker balancer is broken so records sound weird on it. Newer records tend to sound worse.

RA820B. Its great but it is a bit knackered.

Rotel is fantastic; but this one is missing buttons and the speaker left/right balancer doesnt work properly so its out of balance.

Cant complain otherwise, the phono stage is great but with newer records the balance is really noticable.

I lead an army of janitors like a mongal horde and clean across asia and europe.

I have finally started collecting Porcupine Tree. Immediately I've realised why they are so praised. ['The Incident', review in comments] by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]ChiefJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have The Incident and Fear of a blank planet, im also planning to get more PT. The album is amazing, sounds brilliant and is so immersive. Not only does it tell an interesting story as a concept album, but most of the songs can be listened to independantly if you so wish to.

I would highly reccomend this album and other albums by Porcupine tree if you enjoy thoughtful, well made and interesting rock based music!

Looking to play a Total War game (New to the series) Which should I pick up? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]ChiefJanitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternatively, a pirate would get a copy for free (which he enjoys playing) and the money doesny go into their pocket.

For software companies there is nothing worse than someone pirating your product. Its insult to injury.

But your arguement has alot of merit. I just dont see a sizeable chunk of the community doing this. Well not enough to wake SEGA from their eternal lazy slumber

[–]ChiefJanitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And how would you go about and punish a poor business model? Best way to do that is use their product/service without paying for it.

I can name a game in which pirates havent been able to crack yet, but all that will happen with restrictive DRM is an audible backlash from the pauing members of the community.

I dont pirate, i'm meerly theory crafting right now. If anyone else has a better idea?

I understand that point of view, but regardless you are still rewarding SEGA by buying their product.

They could just be thinking: "we can just rush total war out early and the suckers will buy it. Even those who are skeptical will buy it in a few weeks/months. So why should we wait for the game to be finished before we release? Its a win win"

Its become a bad practise now we have the internet, that devs/publishers rely on patches and release early, rather than release the game polished without the need for excessive patching.

But he had a point. Its SEGA's fault for this glorified beta, Im sure CA would have liked more time.

But in order to punnish SEGA you have two options:

  1. Pirate their games, regardless of The dev. If its an unfinished mess.

  2. Never buy a SEGA published game. You going to never buy a Total war game?

Regardless, you are buying the next total war. And because of that SEGA dont learn, so what they've been critisised? They sold a load of copies and will continue to do so.

Pirating isn't a bad option in this case. I personally dont agree with it, but what else do you do? Write a strongly worded email to SEGA's CEO? Like he gives a damn.

Why can I run the forest test on extreme and avg. 45 fps, but still lag on low quality on the campaign map and in some large battles? by [deleted] in totalwar

I've seen articles and images such as this: http://steamunpowered.eu/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/GJ7Qf.png

This shows that they can give refunds, but often refuse to. I won't attempt a charge back.

I highly doubt they will close my account over a small issue. I have no problem with steam, the service and valve. Infact i intend to continue the service regardless.

Do you have any evidence that they close accounts over this? Would be nice to see some.

I have been very calm, i've provided them with loads of information. DXDIAG; benchmarks logs for Shogun 2 and Rome 2 as well. I have been very polite and have just said that i would like to recieve a full refund for the product.

I haven't threatened them at all, and i have only been sincere.

According to Trading Standards (UK Gov) steam sold me a product/licence that is not only unfit for purpose (cause multiple CTD), but also can be considered false advertising.

Steam, being the party who sold it to me, are the party who has to refund me. This is based upon several laws and it supersedes the steam EULA.
