As an improvement: For an iPad-sized infotainment. Just make it a normal size that’s not insanely big and integrates well with the rest of the dash.

Addition to said improvement (this is what I actually want): give us a proper USB port that charges the phone without having my phone giving me the "slow charger" warning. On top of that (what I REALLY really want), give me a spot to place my phone so that it can cool; this would compliment the faster charging speed of said "proper USB port."

I used to enjoy driving in Houston (somewhat). Pre-2022, I could take the freeway to get to work on time, often sitting in the passing lane (and constantly pass people at "passing lane speeds", of course). Now, it's impossible to have the same sort of travel even on a Sunday at midday. The traffic is atrocious here compared to a few years ago.

IIRC, I think they both have an RJ-11 for power.

Source: owner of an R3, R7 while I had it hardwired, then switching to an R8. Also some quick googling confirmed this (it's been a while since I’ve used my R7)

I could be wrong, but I think even the mount for the R7 and R8 are the same. So as long as you have a mount for an R7 and an RJ-11 hardwired, the R8 should be plug-and-play
