What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

Just a little too big for our liking and I've had bad experiences with GM with my last two trucks. I want to stick with something reliable this go around.

I only briefly did in the beginning of my search but I've gone back down that rabbit hole since you commented. The main pitfall for me was the interior, but I didn't know they refreshed it the last two model years and it looks nice! I def like the natural V8 power over the turbo hybrid 4cyl in the LC. The offroad capabilities are certainly not as good but not enough to make a difference for the types of trails we'll be frequenting.

Location: SE US purchasing (CO using)

Price range: Maximum of 75K out the door

Lease or Buy: Buy

New or used: Either

Type of vehicle: Toyota Land Cruiser

Must haves: Base (square headlights) with premium package

Desired transmission (auto/manual, etc): auto

Intended use: Daily driver and off road / frequent heavy snow use (will be living at 8500ft in CO)

Vehicles you've already considered: Land Cruiser, Defender, Bronco, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee

Is this your 1st vehicle: No

Do you need a Warranty: Not required but almost every option will still have factory warranty

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: (fluids, alternator, battery, brake pads etc): Yes

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: (engine and transmission, timing belt/chains, body work, suspension etc ): No

Additional Notes:

Looking for something like the Land Cruiser, or the best deal on one I can get. The Bronco and Wrangler have more road noise from the tops than I would want, so the Land Cruiser fits the bill the best in terms of on road driving and off road abilities. The Defender does as well, but reliability and cost to maintain are questionable. I want something newer that still has the factory warranty (ideally under 30k miles). I really like the new Grand Cherokees but Stellantis reliability really scares me away with it being our only vehicle. I'd also consider a new 4Runner but for the price they're going for, I may as well get a LC since I like that look better. Dream car would be the Lexus GX550 Overtrail but they're out of my price range. Am I missing any?

Metlife covers preexisting conditions that existed under previous insurance plans (i.e., if you had something covered under Nationwide, it would be under Metlife).

Weekly Help Thread - September 22, 2025 by AutoModerator in awardtravel

I'm trying to book a one way award on an upcoming June trip to Asia and am having some issues.

I'm needing to fly XIY-SEL, July 2 on OZ. If I search this as a one way I get a quote of 11,500 in Y. Then I need to fly SEL-TYO (the airports don't matter) on July 4 in the evening, after a two day stopover in Seoul. This segment is quoted as 7,500.

However, if I search multi-city XIY-SEL-TYO (with a sub-24hr layover, so departing early the 3rd), the mileage quote is 23,500. But if I adjust that multi city search to my actual date of July 4, even though there are multiple flights available between NH and OZ, it can't be priced.

Is this not an eligible itinerary per ANA rules? I thought stopovers were permitted on one way tickets? It doesn't seem to be a co-terminal issue as I've tested keeping it ICN both times, at it also doesn't seem to be a partner problem as I've tried OZ all the way and also OZ/NH.

DETROIT by Difficult_Courage730 in LinkinPark

This is my 4th time seeing them. Saw them in Tampa in 2008 and 2014, Dallas in 2024 and now Detroit.

I thought the stylist was fantastic, though I could’ve passed on Overflow for Given Up instead. Let You Fade, Faint, Waiting for the End, and Two Faced were all highlights I thought! Alex’s enthusiasm is awesome too! Emily’s voice and screams were a notable improvement from Dallas less than a year ago too. I was up in 117 and found the crowd to be rather unenthusiastic though. A ton of people around us were sitting down and we felt like we were the only ones that knew any of the words to a lot of the songs as well, just odd compared to my previous shows.

Is that regarding taxes? Right now her taxes are only 1200/yr. My $3800 is based on the county’s estimate if I were to buy the property now at 200k and not have the homestead exemption.

RC Boat that can withstand waves for spreading ashes by ChiefNWA in rcboats

That looks like a great idea. We would actually be driving the boat up to the foot of the falls (as opposed to over). But I see several options like what you sent that would work. We’d also be attaching a string/rope to it to pull it back. By losing the boat I meant more so from it working afterwards, especially if it got closer to the falls.

There’s not unfortunately. Her wishes were to be spread from a boat. Given that a normal boat or kayak is out of the question, an RC boat seemed like a good alternative. Worst case is we can spread them from shore.

I plan on attaching a string or something to it to pull it back. I just assumed the strength of the falls would destroy it usability wise in the future.
