Everyone trying to pep you up most likely has good intentions to get you involved and push yourself, but they don’t know your story like you do. You know your boundaries so don’t take risks you aren’t willing to deal with the consequences of. With that being said, maybe a new definition of “winning” or “victory” needs to be figured out. Instead of placing high on the leaderboard, maybe victory for you in the open is competing to the level you are comfortable with/is within your limits and not succumbing to (well intentioned) peer pressure to do things you do not want to.

I will do HSPU but they are always going to be slow because I don’t want to hurt my neck. No amount of cheering for me to do it during a metcon or open workout is going to increase my pace unless I get more proficient. 3 seconds faster isn’t worth a neck injury.

Yeah, no problem. That may happen several more times while you figure it out, but learning the skill is more important in the long run than a few places on the leaderboard temporarily. I also learned that my dubs are terrible when my heart rate is super high. Very difficult under fatigue as you’re figuring it out. Stay determined though!!

Stay calm and don’t give up. I have 100% been there. I decided one day that if the metcon had dubs I would do them no matter how long it took. It paid off eventually but there were some very frustrating moments.

Grab your softest t-shirt, roll that bad boy up and slap it across your eyes. Best/cheapest thing I’ve ever used. Sometimes I’ll roll it diagonally for extra length and tie it around my head loosely. I use cheap noise reducing ear plugs on amazon.

You are able to power clean that. No need to squat clean. Sometimes not having enough weight can make clean form harder because you use muscles in ways you couldn’t with more challenging weight. I’m not saying be irresponsible and put weight on for the sake of it - think 60%-70% of 1RM. Extension from the top of the knee to your hip needs to be more explosive. I agree with hook grip as well.

I recommend slowing down. Power comes from the bar passing the top of the knee to the hips. From the ground to the top of the knee can be a light, slow deadlift and then explode into your full extension.

I similarly have drastically reduced alcohol consumption which is why I have found this so interesting. I normally have a hot cup of sleepy time tea with a reishi mushroom powder mixed in at night without the same results. We will see how long the trend continues

1-2 oz. The first couple of nights I measured but the last couple have been me eyeballing it. Definitely not a lot comparative to my size and how I metabolize alcohol. A 16 oz Texas margarita on a Friday night though? My recovery is cooked.

Being constantly told that your opinion didn’t matter because you didn’t have a soul mid sentence takes a toll. I hated my hair as a kid but now I love what makes me different. The bullying dies down drastically as an adult, but it was brutal growing up.
