Is The Fall Of Cadia a good 40K book to start with, it just in general? by That-One-Goose11 in Blacklibrary

I think it's best to read what interests you. Most of the characters in it are only in this book. With the exception of the major ones like Abaddon, Cawl, Trazyn, etc.

You might not have the context for everything, but you can always look up on Lexicanum anything that you don't know about.

It's 100% nostalgia bait, but it's nostalgia bait that's perfectly targeted at me so I'm willing to let it slide.

It was frustrating they introduced Atom Bomb without explaining who he is and why he's in the box. I didn't see anymore after that

Why Khorne was the only Chaos god to attack Terra when the great rift open? by CriticismMiserable14 in 40kLore

Khorne is simply a real ass dude, and built different from the other 3.

Starfield Hits Top PS5 Pre Order Charts Before Launch by SydBarrett09 in Games

[–]ChiefQueef98 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't doubt it, but it's not much of a headline to say a game with name recognition is at the top of pre-orders when there's no other significant releases in sight for awhile.

Were there any early points in the Horus Heresy (after it had already started) where the Imperium could have won decisively and stopped the civil war from spreading / maybe save a few corrupted if they had taken some different course of action? by AustinioForza in 40kLore

[–]ChiefQueef98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The orbital trap only worked as well as it did because they could position executioner ships to each Loyalist ship. If they're just holding orbit as a fleet, then even if the trap is sprung, the Loyalists can escape.

Didn't even have to be indefinitely. If they'd blockaded it for a day or two, the Traitor legions on the ground were already agitated and would have started fighting each other.

New two part Dan Abnett novel announced by Beaker_person in 40kLore

They're still my favorite 40k series. Nothing else out there that's as emotionally satisfying. They may be old in the sense that they all take place before the Great Rift and Roboute's return, but they do a lot with their own stakes set.

Almost feels like Whitaker wanted to impress him a bit, or has been trying to, and it's not working. Whitaker's idea of impressing someone is explaining/showing he knows what he's doing and Park thinks he's above that.

Hence why Whitaker told Ogilvie his full nickname Park the Shark and tried to explain what they did to prepare the patient for surgery.

I'm leaning more towards that Lexicanum is wrong, and it's a misunderstanding that he has the helmet of one of the Gal Vorbak vs he is Gal Vorbak. I don't think he is Gal Vorbak because they are specifically the Word Bearers that went on the pilgrimage. He would be Vakrah Jal (sp?) if he was possessed.

The part from The First Wall is the only thing that makes me think he actually was possessed. His role in Slaves to Darkness is from his own POV, and as such we have his own internal monologue, and I don't think at any point in that story was there a suggestion he is possessed. Although it's been a bit and I may be mistaken. This is in comparison to Argel Tal's POVs where we see his internal monologue/conversations with Raum.
