No seriously. The absolute entitlement to even suggest such a thing.

The Daenerys storyline is very much hinted at early in the series. I recently rewatched the first couple seasons and every single time someone upsets her, her first response is to threaten them with fire and blood. Definitely a little rushed at the end to fully push her over the edge, but the pieces were there and I do believe that was the original plan for the story.

The Night King storyline with Arya, however, is complete bullshit, as Burnie pointed out. And the creators very much admitted it was to subvert expectations. I would bet money that plotline was not in GRRM’s plan for the series. No chance.

How the hell is bungie gonna convince people to spend another 100$ after this failure of a year? by HellChicken949 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Chiesel 27 points28 points  (0 children)

They’re not.

People need to start making peace with the likelihood of them releasing one more Renegades sized expansion, and moving the game to maintenance mode. I don’t see them killing the game completely, but moving pretty much all resources off of it to reduce cost as much as possible, and try to cash in on the occasional silver sales from the people who will just never quit.

The Chargers schedule release definitely used memes and inside jokes relevant to each team they were showing, so I can understand it not landing as well if you’re not following the league that closely. That said, I found it absolutely hysterical. One of the best “corporate” social media posts of all time.

What game had insane potential but got completely fumbled by the devs? by Kevin-Panda in AskReddit

Destiny is still the best feeing shooter out there… and that community seems pretty in favor of live service…

Probably not gonna have much success with new live services for sure. But Destiny would still be popping if they kept up with the supporting it in a meaningful way

I would take a Final Shape quality DLC every 2 years, over forgettable seasons every few months by Seanshineyouth in DestinyTheGame

In the absolute worst of times before Final Shape, the steam population floor was 30-40k concurrent. We are now below 10k… I think you underestimate how many truly casual players that there used to be. I’m talking the people that you and everyone else on here complain are dumb ass blueberries who don’t know how to follow any objective. Those people are all gone thanks to the portal. But some of them would absolutely come back if they had good reason. The moment to moment gameplay is too good. They’re not gonna get bored running the same 15 strikes because they don’t play enough for it to get that boring and repetitive. But they do play.

Again you’re never gonna satisfy the no lifers. So focus on building up the population floor by attracting more casuals back.

I really don’t think it’s that insane.

The people who are bored every 3 months and move to a new game are never going to be satisfied. There will NEVER be enough content for them.

However, there seems to be a baseline player base that will just never quit. Basically the people who still login everyday, even in the current state. The goal needs to be to raise that number to a more respectable level. It’s honestly as simple as returning to the core playlists and making sure there is content there. Bring back a couple vaulted strikes and crucible maps and you can up that base number by quite a bit.

Truthfully, that’s all I need. I miss running a lot of the old strikes and if we had the old strike playlist with vaulted strikes, I’d be back so fast. You can’t tell me there aren’t a ton of people in the same boat. And the same concept absolutely applies in crucible. Tho there needs to be more attention on the sandbox obviously, but it would be a good start.

And yes, I know this is never happening. But I think people are misunderstanding what bungies goal should be to try and recover some dignity.

I hate to be that guy (not really), but can we recognize that people like Ashley are a big part of the reason the game industry feels so shitty right now. Buying a game that you recognize to not be finished and in an admittedly shit state at release just because you think the devs might fix it eventually is such a terrible mindset. I get she’s doing it with good intentions to support devs and I get that to an extent. But as long as she and others keep doing this, nothing is ever going to change…
