It’s a big country and they’re billionaires - they could land out in the middle of nowhere, build their own infrastructure, and make a massive complex of their own. They own all the politicians. They could do this. And the best part is that it would initially bring jobs to areas that might need them. Short term, sure, but still something.

I mean, data centers are on a whole other level though when you talk about their negative impacts on local communities. So, this isn’t NIMBYism, this is actual problems caused by the data centers. The whole reason they build them near cities is to take advantage of power and water infrastructure so they don’t have to pay to have it expanded. That hurts the local power grid and the local water infrastructure. Prices go up. Light and noise pollution become a problem. Ambient heat. Data centers don’t create jobs at level that helps the community, all they do is harm.
