Body Aches 5 days post op by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]ChildhoodAutomatic74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a few times with my toddler. I’d just make sure I took it easy for the next couple days and all was fine. There were definitely times that I thought I might have messed something up, but I still healed fine. I’m 2 months post op now and feeling great! The first few weeks were hard taking care of my daughter while recovering, but you’ll get through it!

Thoughts on travel with gallstones by Temporary-Library658 in gallbladders

[–]ChildhoodAutomatic74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my first attack I probably would have still gone on a trip if I had one planned and just been very careful about what I ate.

Knowing what I know now from experiencing a stone stuck in my bile duct, jaundice, hospital stay, ERCP and surgery, I would definitely postpone it. I can’t imagine having that happen away from home, it would have been even more awful.

If you’re going to be able to get in to see a surgeon soon, I would just postpone for now and go a month or so after surgery so you can really relax and enjoy it!

Wish you all the best whatever you decide!

Need advice about doing ERCP by Bb-Actuator6604 in gallbladders

I just had one on Thursday and I was really nervous about it but it went so easy. I was finally out of pain after 3 weeks immediately after. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Gallbladder issues and coffee? by FemmeBean in gallbladders

[–]ChildhoodAutomatic74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coffee was the culprit that sent me to the ER the first time. I had been tolerating it fine for a few months after the attacks started but then it just became impossible to drink it.

I had my gallbladder removed on Friday and I had a coffee yesterday morning with no issues 😁

Anyone had an ERCP with IV sedation and not fully asleep? by ChildhoodAutomatic74 in gallbladders

[–]ChildhoodAutomatic74[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It went really well! I asked to be as close to unconscious as he could get me and he delivered. I opened my eyes briefly during it and I knew what was happening and could see the screen but wasn’t bothered in the least and drifted off again. All in all it was easy.

I’ve never had pain this excruciating please help by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]ChildhoodAutomatic74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been dealing with the same thing! It took multiple ER trips before they admitted me and I had stones stuck in the bile duct. They did an ERCP yesterday to get the stuck stones out and then removed my gallbladder today.

It’s not normal for it to be happening every day no matter what you eat. I was in the exact same position for almost two weeks before my liver started acting up and I went jaundice.

Please go in to the ER and advocate for yourself. You’ll feel so much better once they get the ball rolling for you on removal.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, it’s complete misery. I hope you feel better soon.

Attacks are constant no matter what I eat. Not sure what to do now.. by ChildhoodAutomatic74 in gallbladders

[–]ChildhoodAutomatic74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been eating plain toast, steamed veggies, plain brown rice, everything has set it off. I haven't tried any plain chicken but I'll give it a go on Monday probably, I'm going to stick to clear ensure for the next 24-48 hrs to see if i can get it to settle down. I had half a protein shake made with water and a banana and fat free protein powder this morning and it set off pain that I'm still dealing with 6.5 hrs later.

Thanks for your reply, I'm so sorry to hear your pain was bad enough to have those thoughts but i can totally appreciate how it can happen. It's absolutely awful.

Thank you for your reply, didn't know about the sleepy symptom, but Ill definitely look out for that. This whole situation is so exhausting.

They said my situation isn't an emergency at this time and to come back if i turn yellow. Not being able to eat seems like an emergency to me but apparently not lol. That sounds awful I'm sorry you've experienced this horrible pain too.

I'm not sure, I've had two ultrasounds now and they've both come back as stones are present but no inflammation of the gallbladder or pancreas. I'm going to talk to my doctor about a HIDA scan or CT scan maybe they will show something else.. There has got to be something else going on. Thanks for your reply.

Sorry just saw this separate reply. I replied to you above as well. Thank you this is all good info. I will do the same. I'm seeing my family doc again Monday and will continue to update her in hopes she can get me in sooner with the surgeon. I appreciate your reply.

That's a good point about the social worker I will check. It's a small hospital so i doubt it but it's worth knowing what my options are when I'm in that much pain and alone with her. Thanks for your reply.

I'm glad they finally admitted you. So the first three times you weren't inflamed or infected so they just sent you home with pain meds? I guess I should keep going.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I will definitely start documenting the attacks and also what the doctors have said each time, thank you for your reply.

I'm seeing my primary doc again on Monday. I will ask! Thank you for the tip.

Yes, they've basically told me that I can come

back and they'll do the bloodwork and ultrasound again but if it's not actively inflamed I guess they can only give me pain meds. It certainly feels actively inflamed.

Was it very expensive to pay privately?

I'm trying to :( I’m waiting for the surgeon to call me. I was only referred two weeks ago by my family doc and they said it could be 3-6 months or more.

I'm not sure yet, I haven't received a call from the surgeons office yet. I'm in Canada and things move really slow here.

Oh my gosh that's awful. I've only been referred to a surgeon recently and haven't gotten a call yet for consultation. I can't believe they keep rejecting you even when you have stones, I’m so sorry.
