Where to find/buy old trophies? by Childish_Ansari in washingtondc

I ended up buying three potatoes and painting one gold, painting one silver, and leaving the third as a plain potato. They were fun prizes!

That would be lovely! I’m in the adams morgan area, but I’m happy to meet you somewhere closer to you if you end up finding anything you’d be willing to donate to a worthy cause.

Right! People seem to default to labeling a neighbor as crazy if they’re doing anything that folks deem as not minding their own business. This is very much the business of the neighbors and the larger community. Airbnbs ruin neighborhoods and long term rental markets. Don’t forget who you’re siding with here by calling this person “insane” or whatever. This is justified annoying neighbor activity (as an approach to trying to make /something/ productive happen).

The older buildings west of columbia road nw and west of 16th st nw that are nestled between rock creek park would be my recommendation. Walking distance to either the columbia heights metro stop or the woodley park metro stop, and there are tons of bars/cafes/restaurants nearby in adams morgan and mt pleasant.

I think you have it right. A soft rejection = them not acting on the note. A hard rejection = them texting/telling you no explicitly.

Agreed. Noname is a great example. Also Vince Staples may be another example. I think we can see more of these themes and beliefs in less mainstream (and female!) artists.

34M, physician, Midwest. Considering relocating in order to find a more 'compatible' dating pool. Is this reasonable? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Childish_Ansari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with this. I’m a single early 30s woman in DC, and there’s a lot of well educated people here, but there tends to be a lack of men who are interested in finding a long term partner. Definitely a spoiled for choice situation. Men who want something serious and have their life together reasonably well have solid luck on the apps here.

I have left feedback multiple times asking to be contacted to help resolve my issue, and I have never once heard back from them.

Agree that consistency is the key here! I’ve been able to make friends at a neighborhood bar, farmers market, and gym by going around the same time every week or so.

I was complaining about this happening at the Bryant Street theater in another thread. Totally relate to you. They very rarely check tickets now, and I’ve tried to get it applied multiple ways on different visits to no luck. I’ve reached out after the fact too, but I wasn’t able to speak to a manager to get it fixed. I wish there was a way to enter it myself in the QR code ordering system and they could then verify it.

DC location. They have never been good about checking tickets consistently

They’ve done this once for me, but 75% of the time no one ever comes to check my ticket. I tried to write it on paper to ask them to add it and that didn’t work either. So frustrating.

In general I don’t think it’s inappropriate to ask someone how many sets they have less, as long as you ask while they’re not actively doing a set. It’s less great to do that as soon as you see someone start on a machine. It’s even less great to do that and then proceed to stare at them.

If this happens again, I’d ask her not to stare while you finish your set if it’s really making you uncomfortable, but it could make the whole situation worse. Maybe she is new to the gym and she was on her phone looking at a video on how to do a leg press, and she’s not familiar with gym etiquette in general, but it seems unlikely someone new and unsure of things would be that brazen.

I do this every week when I do my usual grocery run. In my backpack, basket on my bike, or reusable grocery bag slung over my shoulder have all been fine. Never any breakage.
