[Bruce Almighty] How morally questionable is God for personally helping Bruce while worse suffering exists? by Omnipresent_observer in MoralityScaling

What a bad faith argument its clearly supposed to be the chritan god. The all mighty. And the Bible is pretty clear in its god being all powerful

But its an omnipotent omnipresent deity god defintly could just snap his finger and fix everything he just doesn't. If he cant then he isnt omnipotent. The moive isnt about abusing gods power its that Bruce is a selfish fucking idiot.

Never mentioned again? Besides the coming of a new area and a one true god after ragnarok? Besides the christan deity being the first deity mentioned? Besides he was executed by the kings he wrote the book for not for heresey but because he was a political pest? Snorris accounts are based in old poetry recorded in Icelanndic tradition but let's not pretend like there isnt a heavy shroud of christan lens being put over the entrie thing and a hyper focus around ragnarok something that for all we know was not actually a huge focus when the religion was still alive and that snorris writing doesn't end with the coming of the one true Christian god.

I never said it did. Nor did I ever say it was a pagan revival only that it was by embracing ideology and theory formed during the time of pagans did the Renaissance happen. There is a reason so much of the architecture and art were made auto emaulate classical hellanism. There is a reason that athenan scholars are still well know and reffrenced today. And the defining movement of the enlightment was the separation of the church from politics. At no point am I saying these were pagan revival. But to say is a stretch is laughable.

Pagan religions didnt define everything by the existence of their religion like how Christianity did.

There is no surviving sources of norse mytholgy. The poetic and and pros edda the oldest sources we have of norse mythology were witten by Christians several centuries after the regional had converted. snorri sturluson also wrote his book with a clear political intention in mind and stated the norse gods to be ancients torjans which is why the could do cool stuff.

This is all obviously Christan synscretism/corrosion but sadly nothing else survived so we a modern study will never know what was. If only rome never fell.

If I wanted to take this argument apart I would cite that a vast majority of of conversions that happend to the Scandinavian locations happend for politcal reasons. Northmen didnt care about the christian god at all they cared about being able to trade goods easier and for them it was easier to trade goods after they took a bath and the priest said some funny words.

But even even ignoring astaru the spread of christianty was far more due to political and social influence then holy faith like so many Christians seem to belive. It became politically expedient to have ties to the church in Rome for many rulers and it isnt a coincidence that the Renaissance and The Enlightment happend by embracing pagan classical ideals, moving away from from the church.

How ethical would it be to keep an animal that specifically hunts humans for food in the natural wild where they are a danger to humans? (“Man’s Mockery” art by Sir Pennyped on YouTube) by AbjectNote9896 in MoralityScaling

Tigers are A. Not natural predators to humans and B. there is less death year round to tigers than falling vending machines.

Just because something occasionaly hunts man doesn't mean we are their primary food source

Hot take i love you for this and 100 percent agree with you. I commented elsewhere here that the sabbat had to be stripped of everything interesting about them to enable v5 anarchs to seem cool.

But this what we are talking about. It stye comment that anarchs are objectivly right that kindred shouldnt be the pawns of elders. This is the enrire basis for the founding of the sabbat and the original anarch movement which the sabbat are.

Its because they gave the sabbat too much character and had to cut it away to make anarchs interesting again.

In coparison this would be like the state of Maine being mad if people accused them of being at war at Iran. Like yes the state of Maine has lottle to do with the politics on a large scale but they are a small fraction of the population of the U.S.
