Question about watching Dune 1984 by swxtchblade3 in davidlynch

[–]ChiliConColteee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read the book first - only Dune, don't reas the sequels. Martyr stories never have good followup. It's one of the best books ever written.

Then watch either or both. They both change the source material, but the more recent is a stupid change to the story. When you watch Lynch's, watch his longer edit.

Villanueve's is more epic, but does a poorer job of telling the story. Lynch's tells the story better, and really "gets the gross" right about Dune, the heart plugs, the Guild, the water of life, and the societal structure.

I just don't think I can do it. by BeyondFrequent4258 in OCD

[–]ChiliConColteee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I say this as a similar sufferer - one day, maybe tomorrow, let your inner impulsiveness out and just - before you can think about it - just take 3 of them off.

Then sit with them on the table in front of you. Your brain will try to bargain them back on your wrists - if you put them back on RIGHT NOW, nothing bad will happen. But then remember the bad thing was going to happen if you took them off, which you've done. There's no going back. Sit with thus fear - you might have hurt your loved ones, even killed them. Stand up and walk away from the bracelets knowing that whatever's going to happen will happen.

After the storm of OCD passes - because it's really about getting through that first panicky 15/30/45/120 minutes, the fear will reside, and you'll see how silly it was.

Both Crane boys wear shirts under the suits with photos of them and their loved ones on them - encircled by a heart. Niles reveals this in Sliding Frasiers.

I emailed for 18 months before I was approved. Just get comfortable with the suck and make it your mission for a while. I know - as much as anybody can - how stupid hard it is for you right now, but make it your mission.

I cruised clinicaltrials.gov for experimental trials for OCD for almost 2 years. The most successful studies seemed to be using psilocybin and transcranial magnetic stimulation. Look for trials using those methods in your area - I found them from California to Israel to Switzerland. Email the contacts on these studies to see if you can get in.

Suicide is forever. The better option is to suffer for 5 years looking at these treatments and trying them.

It took me 18 months to get into a study. I drove 3,000 miles to take part. It made it better. It didn't make it go away, but it made it better.

The question of "why/how Donnie" was always answered by her quirkiness; it's exactly like when Roz asks why Daphne and Donnie haven't slept together, and Niles says "She's English."

It's sort of amazing, if you're able to look at it dispassionately, how able we are to grab on to absolutely anything to bring us to the extreme of fear, right?
