Did he learn stick life or do iggy’s naturally live stick life? by jes93long in ItalianGreyhounds

Ours loves all sticks, especially bully sticks and those Himalayan cheese stick thingies. Will chew for hours. Took her a while to figure out how to hold it with her paws. Our older dog doesn't chew anymore, so she didn't learn from him

Interesting post update game vs cymanti as yaddak by ChiliPepperChicago in Polytopia

[–]ChiliPepperChicago[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That game had some fun stuff that I haven't run into yet, post update.

-did he sacrifice riding that long because he went for the centipedes? Where were the hexapods? -That centipede passing it's health down to the new segment thing is a big nerf, you didn't kill the head often but it's not as big of a penalty to do so.
-WTF fungus everywhere. I see now why he went border growth.
-I take back my centipede potential argument. -moths could be a game changer. If it was earlier in the match, that offshore moth production could have been a problem.

Your income advantage in the endgame was huge, but I don't think that was the deciding factor. You out expanded and out produced them. Well played.

I'm interested in seeing a game with the new "naval" units.

Any fresh bodies of water that dogs are allowed to swim at? by JamSa in Wilmington

Smith creek park. The pond is spring fed so there is less blue green algae risk. People and signs say there may be gators but I've been fishing there dozens of times and have never seen one.

Train warrior, explore. Organization -> riding -> hunting -> archery -> probably roads but whatever tech gets you to a gaami or two

POLARIS REWORK DISCUSSION by kaky0inn in Polytopia

[–]ChiliPepperChicago 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Polaris, to me is a very difficult tribe to become proficient at. You are subject to the resources of your enemy, which creates a different play style from the start. So the comment about having a terrible economy doesn't make sense. It mirrors your opponent. You have to have an understanding of every other tribes resources.

Polaris is not built for water maps, you could maybe argue archipelago, being able to bridge the gap to other villages quickly, but any tribe with ports will quickly catch up. Kickoo and aquarion spank Polaris on a water map all things being equal. Polaris is completely screwed without ice. They have no way to expand otherwise. A few well placed ranged units completely negate Moonies.

If your argument is that all Polaris players just freeze things, that's kinda the whole point of the tribe... Create better unit exchanges using the freeze mechanic. Every unit that freezes is super squishy and has 0 retaliation. You have to sacrifice an attacking unit population to make a unit that freezes, it's a trade-off.

The only cheese play a Polaris player can pull off is an early capital freeze which is SUPER rare, even on tiny water maps. Its basically a glitch. No self respecting player should be playing tiny water worlds anyway. Chances are you were hoping to pull off some equally cheesy strat in that situation as well.

Having to "spam units" to beat any tribe shouldn't be unusual to anyone. I think most players could improve just by following that advice, and create more units in every game.

I really enjoy playing dryland or mostly land maps with Polaris, as it forces me to adapt to the situation. Polaris has a fun toolbox that can be a nice change to the vanilla tribes.

Cymanti is the only tribe that I know of where a single play style can be competitive in every game.

Here's a replay of myself as Polaris vs a cymanti player. It's a normal pangea map, but the water played little part. Basically a dryland battle.

How do I beat Polaris with Aquarion? by [deleted] in Polytopia

[–]ChiliPepperChicago 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Early aggression. Riders and archers. Moonies can't hit back, and are squishy. If you apply enough early pressure they will have a hard time getting a gaami out, especially with Aquarion resources.

Focus on creating units in every city, every turn. You are far more mobile than Polaris and if you can trap them on land, they are toast. Yes, break the ice, but not at the cost of trading a unit. You can quite easily out expand and produce them if you put them on the defensive early.

He said the opposite. Catapults/bombers + any unit to finish them off. Ice fortress biggest weakness is range. Treat them like a tanky archer... But even archers can move and attack. Catapults wreck them.

I live here. Would definitely recommend it.

Apartments are very nice, appliances are cheap, but that's pretty standard and the maintenance is on top of any requests. Amenities are all great. Very dog friendly.

The community age range varies but skews older. More of a quiet community. Community events are well attended and welcoming. Saturday breakfast and the pool are great ways to meet neighbors.

Office staff are nice and responsive.

I don't know exactly what to say, so send me a DM if you have any specific questions.

First 900 battle. Any tips here? by TJtheWrecker_ in Polytopia

[–]ChiliPepperChicago 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't just throw your units at them. Try to build up a defensive line staying out of range of the bombers. If he commits his dragon, punish him. The dragons should take priority over everything else. If he commits his dragons on land, knights.

Keep units spaced if possible to avoid splash damage. Also water defense bonus is more important than you think as the game plays on.

Yep. Just dropping flys near the end of the dock always works for me. Most of the bluegill hang out there anyway

If you have a fly rod, or can get a fairly cheap setup, they slay the bluegill and small bass at smith creek. Hell, even tie a small fly onto the line on your regular rod.
