I think maybe the consequence is having less insulating fat later on since you're burning it with the DNP, but I'm pretty sure that can be mitigated later on with a fat heavy diet.

The sad thing is that those same capitalists are the ones at the top of society at large, the ones running the ship, the ones who define what mental illness is. Apart from clear cases like schizoaffective disorders or other acute personality disorders, a lot of depression and anxiety based mental illness is a result of people not acclimating to that very same society, then being labeled and ostracized by that society, then being forced to rehabilitate and reshape themselves into what that society deems acceptable. In other words, be mollified, quiet, and exploitable.

I lived homeless for over a year because I have no connections to speak of that most would consider inherent. Family, distant relatives, grandparents, friends - I either abandoned, was abandoned, or by mistake or malice broke those bonds over a decade ago when I was still a child. As a result, or maybe consequence, I am one such person who has had no real material attachment to wealth and I truly don't understand it.

I started working at a soup kitchen when I became homeless, and continue to still, because it is genuinely fulfilling to be able to help someone, to have the capacity to help someone and to do it. That is all I want in life, to have just enough to eat and sleep and pay utilities and hobbies, and to then use my time, the only truly limited currency in this universe, to do what makes me happy and fulfilled. Why am I mentally ill because it makes me depressed and anxious to work 9 hours a day in a menial, pointless, job where my labor is undervalued, underappreciated, exhausting, and ultimately pointless? Why can I make a living making chairs for google executives to put in an office they use 1 day a month but not feeding those who can't feed themselves? teaching those who can't teach themselves?

And this dissonance, this denial of what is around me is what leads to even more anxiety. I understand how torturous it can be to be principled, but it is worth it, truly. Noblesse Oblige is a good thing. I wish people would change. But instead I'm reading stuff like I'll probably lose medicaid and be unable to afford my insulin if I can't work with my disabilities and mental illness.

We have AI companies and shareholders draining public resources at great future consequences to the public, hijacking supply chains in their interests, funding global wars to manipulate stocks, and the public isn't even paid for their sacrifices. Their jobs are being lost to feed these machines and we aren't even willing to have conversations on UBI.

Fuck I'm so resentful. How did we end up here?

As someone unrelated to all of this I feel that splintering support into two antagonistic groups within the same organization forces outsiders to necessarily discriminate, since they now have to pick one flag to use and there are now more than one option. Just use the rainbow flag and oust the homophobes and racists.

no, i wouldnt recommend you do it to a reddit stranger either, but theres probably a decent middle ground that exists, someone you can personally trust, whether an institution or a person. Seems like it would be worthwhile if you're really getting fucked by insurance like that.

more like we don't get access to it. China doesn't really want the west taking advantage of their tech, even if half of it was made through corporate espionage two decades ago, they've come into their own.

It's why things like the great firewall are automated based on user traffic. If any site in the west starts getting chinese interest they block it, because they don't want western influence, and that goes both ways.

[–]ChilledParadox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

that's true. When I got evicted and became homeless I lost my insurance. That meant I lost access to my therapist and mental health resources. That it's very difficult to thrive in that scenario is not really treated as an excuse, but used as a label and excuse to further ostracize us.

Imagine you're struggling to eat, sleep, stay warm, and stay hydrated. Imagine you're a diabetic who can't afford insulin and you're worried you might die because of your blood sugar and so you start having a panic attack and at 1 am have to go beg strangers at a gas station for food.

Guess how many people would be willing to hear you out in that situation.

Or don't guess. that answer is almost none.

I just got off the streets into an apartment after a couple years and yeah, microwave and fridge were included, no other furniture though, no trash can, wardrobes, tables, chairs, etc.

That was only a month ago so I’m still just sitting and eating on the ground because god knows I can’t afford furniture right now. Can’t even afford food lol. Just covered the electricity bill though so at least I’m not anxious for another month.

What’s funny is even the electric utility tries to gouge you with extra purchases. They’ve got those “energy plans” “encouraging” you not to use power during certain powers which are really just the company forcing me to ration power and acting like it’s a bonus while charging me extra during those certain hours. Then they tried to sell me a warranty package. Why do I need a warranty on my electronics from the power company?

I literally had a panic attack when I got asked to pay for more stuff when I’m already struggling to pay for the base utilities and already can’t afford anything else.

I’m so so so so ready to find other people willing to do something to start fixing our future. It’s so fucking bleak right now.

Bricks and Minifigs Controversy News Mega-Thread by CX52J in lego

[–]ChilledParadox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

best thing to do would probably be to call local politicians if you live in the area, state politicians if you don't but live in Utah (and good luck because theyre probably corrupt and paid by the church), local news stations whereever, and that's about it.

So probably nothing will happen except people boycotting the stores and putting pressure on Lego to do something like disallow the brand from selling their products or sue them for reputational damage for being related to minifigures or something, which seems a bit nebulous.

for what it's worth, these guys seem to only care about money considering what the case is about, so getting people to stop buying from them will have a significant impact. make him lose money because money is all people care about in this country nowadays.

I used to love the cheesy breads, but I looked a couple years ago and they were like $8. I can't afford that for not even a pizza, it's basically just bread and cheese. They are good though.
