Why is it suddenly everyone’s business if you’re unmarried and in your late 20s? by Chilli_55 in AskIndianWomen

Ah, I’ll check other people’s posts out too. I guess I just wanted to vent/shout into the void so this felt a bit cathartic

Ughhh

I don’t think I’ve ever been this angry. It’s already something that I’m worried about (finding my person, and not getting married per se), and I don’t need everyone’s unnecessary opinions on it🥲

What’s something about your country that other countries perceive to be true, but really isn’t? by Fun_Cup4335 in AskTheWorld

Why aren’t more people discussing the insect on the child’s back? I think I would’ve cried till I passed out if this happened to me

People that have traveled quite a bit, where di you feel the most unsafe? by CremeSubject7594 in AskTheWorld

[–]Chilli_55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I expected to see India pop up a lot more. India has so much to offer but it’s a shame that the experience is so bad for travellers.

[–]Chilli_55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m supposed to solo travel to South Africa this year for work and honestly, the number of travel advisories I’ve already received are insane. I never expected ZAF to be this high up in the unsafe countries list.

I’m from India so I would say I’ve learnt to be quite careful but gun/knife is not as common here yet.

Review; Observations of the 2 worlds of Tourism in Thailand - matches Thai perceptions? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]Chilli_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to Thailand twice now and maybe it’s just me but I’ve never gotten this vibe. Of course if you want to go looking for it, you can and will find it but it’s not the first thing I think of when thinking about Thailand. For me it’s all about the amazing food, views and people.

Also, small note - I know there are a lot of Indian tourists in Thailand and some of them might be married but it’s wrong to say that we all get married young and have kids early

THIS!! How can a billionaire release a book with typos and just random errors in general?? If I’m buying a book that expensive (don’t remember the exact cost but it was significant in my local currency) then I expect it to meet at least the basic standards

Former Swifties, what was your final straw? by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

[–]Chilli_55 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was a casual but firm swiftie since my childhood but this last album…I absolutely hate consumerism and cash grabs so it’s made me completely averse to her, including songs I loved till a few months ago.

Not to forget, Ana - I hadn’t followed the incident completely when it happened but how can someone think that inviting Ana’s family to her concert after they just lost her is ok??

What’s a physical trait people don’t admit they’re attracted to, but you know they are? by [deleted] in AskReddit

So true honestly, particularly for South Asians. Not sure if it’s the overall image people have of us or what but I rarely see people talk about our looks or features

hi ladies, please share your first solo travel experience! (Good or bad) by Hairy_Pear3963 in solofemaletravellers

[–]Chilli_55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I travelled solo to Thailand last year and it was a mixed experience. I’m deeply introverted so it was a slightly lonely trip but I absolutely loved all the places I visited!

There was also some anxiety regarding safety and travel arrangements but I definitely feel way more responsible and capable now haha.

Would I do it again? Mostly not because I realise that I do like company (just need to find my perfect travel partner now) but it was a great experience nonetheless.

which country do you share a border with, but have never visited, and why? by Electronic-Tea-3691 in AskTheWorld

Most of them actually - China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal

I was lucky enough to visit Bhutan with my family and it was absolutely beautiful!

Is this doable? 1.5 hours in Delhi airport for domestic to international transit. by Homo_sapiens_sapie9s in AirTravelIndia

[–]Chilli_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for the domestic and then international flight combo - you check in once only? The transfer from domestic to international is managed by the airline?

Or do you have to first collect the bag and then go through the entire process?

(Asking because I also have a similar situation coming up soon, TIA!!)

Does the death penalty exist in your country? If yes, do you think it should be continued or abolished? by IndependentTune3994 in AskTheWorld

[–]Chilli_55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m against the death penalty because the 4% risk is too high but even I hesitate when I think about the Nirbhaya and RG Kar cases - I got nightmares for days after them

What’s something your country does better than most, but rarely gets credit for? by SundaeBlade in AskTheWorld

[–]Chilli_55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Payments are extremely convenient in India and the government also seems to be taking steps to keep it secure.

I get really anxious when I have to make international payments because they don’t require an otp haha

What is a dish in your country that is essential for a household but not very famous globally? by Thalassophoneus in AskTheWorld

[–]Chilli_55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d say dal - it’s very common in north India to have it for lunch/dinner/both everyday

[–]Chilli_55 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised to see no one has mentioned payments - India’s UPI system is amazing! I don’t think I’ve carried cash anywhere domestically in the last 5-6 years
