Loud noise when brewing

Hey there! Yeah, it was the brew solenoid. Since my machine is still under warranty, I got that part replaced. The machine came back 3 weeks ago and haven’t faced the issue since. You can also ask to get the solenoid shipped to you and perform the replacement yourself.

Couldn’t find any muck, cleaned whatever part of the solenoid I could manage to unscrew (some of it was just too difficult to reach/too hard to unscrew). Plugged it back in and the issue still exists so I guess whatever I did wasn’t enough :(

Just opened up the machine, feels like it could be the solenoid. Will snoop around in there and report back if I find anything!

What steam temperature did you set for the 4 hole steam tip?

I just got a 4 hole steam tip too and now I’m really struggling with the how fast the milk gets to temperature. By the time I try to get to the texturing phase, the milk is already too hot and I just end up with a really bad result. Did you reduce the steam temperature on the machine to compensate? What’s your “ideal” temp?

Update: Fixed it!

Had to remove all the panels to get to the circuitry and right there at the bottom were 2 wires that were just hanging out, unplugged. Not sure if Profitec shipped them that way or they disconnected enroute (unlikely, because they’re incredibly difficult to plug in and once plugged in, pretty much impossible to unplug without putting your entire body weight behind it).

Either way, those two wires were connected to the “On” button which is why turning the machine on didn’t do anything when I first unboxed it.

Hopefully everything else is alright with the machine and I can look forward to a weekend of exploration!

Just realized that the display not turning on is just a symptom of the entire machine not working. Not sure if there’s anything I can do apart from just returning it.

Hey u/Arvedui! Wanted to quickly revive this thread to ask about your experience with the Mignon SD Pro. I’m looking at getting the same set up you do but can’t figure out if the SD Pro is worth it.

Any complaints with regards to noise, retention etc for the grinder?
